Easter Eggs Hidden Throughout the Game

Easter Eggs

  • Kendo - on Leon’s handgun, the SG-09 R, the word Kendo is engraved on it. This refers to the gun shop, Kendo, and its owner, Robert Kendo, in Resident Evil 2. This also gives the idea that the gun was bought from Robert Kendo six years prior by Leon.
  • Shooting The Lake - If you shoot at the lake where the Del Lago monster resides, you will be greeted by a secret death animation. Once you hit it a few times, the monster will jump out of the lake and swallow Leon whole.
  • Increase Leon’s movement speed - Leon’s movement speed can be increased by about 1.5 times by aiming the Striker shotgun and quickly opening the inventory to change to a new weapon before the Striker’s laser pointer appears.
  • “No Thanks, Bro!” trophy - this trophy pays tribute to Leon’s remarks in the original game after Salazar makes a long-winded introduction.
  • Sitting on the Throne - you can return to the Throne Room in the castle and sit on the throne. If you sit for a few seconds, the text, “There’s no time for resting,” appears.
  • Jill Valentine’s Reference - Leon gives Ashley a boost in chapter 14 to open a locked gate from the other side. Ashley comments, “I’m pretty much a master of unlocking.” This line goes back to the original Resident Evil game when Barry handed a lockpick to Jill and said, “It might be handy if you, a master of unlocking, take it with you.”.
  • Gun names - The Killer7 magnum gun is referenced after another shooter game named Killer7, also made by Capcom. The Matilda handgun is named after the main character of a movie called Leon: The Professional.
  • Farm Animals - The cows in the village can attack you and the villagers. They can be set off by anything from a flaming touch to a little tap. The pigs do the same; however, they cause less damage.
  • EI Gigante’s takedown - Once Leon and the dog have taken down EI Gigante, you can revisit his paddock, and you will find his rearing notes which contain heartwarming stories.
  • Shooting Gallery Music - Once you enter the shooting gallery and start the proceedings, you will recognize a familiar tune. This is the same tune used in the original’s opening when Leon asks Policia if they expect to sing Kumbaya together.

Beginners Guide

Guides

  • Be sure to keep an eye on your map - your map is constantly updated whenever you spot something (ammo, health items, etc.), making it easy to keep track of the little collectible items in each room.
  • Flash grenades can instantly kill special enemies - enemies are more robust and grow tentacles that replace the host’s head, thus increasing their attack range and helping them deal more damage. However, they can be killed instantly with flash grenades.
  • Avoid traps by keeping an eye on the ground - there are a variety of traps, from bear traps to laser trip mines. For bear traps, you can swipe your knife near them or send ammo to trigger them shut. For tripwire mines, you can walk to them to defuse them.
  • Upgrade your weapons to make the shooting gallery easier - upgrading your weapons also affects the guns in the shooting gallery. Thus, you can hit more targets in the shooting gallery missions, as you don’t need to reload.
  • Use melee attacks whenever possible - this helps to conserve ammo. It also helps when you fight off several enemies at once to deal damage to everyone surrounding you.
  • Your strongest weapon is your combat knife - upgrade and repair your knife regularly, as it is your most reliable weapon. It is an excellent defensive tool that you can use against enemy attacks such as chainsaws or thrown axes.
  • The rocket launcher can be used against tough bosses - most bosses and enemies can be defeated in a single blast.
