Good source of starting funds

Hints

Once you are able to bet in the fights, go to the arena on the far left of you're map. The fight arenas have a betting cap, but the one on the far left does not.

Save the game immediately before talking to the betting guy at the front of the arena. Then, place a bet for the maximum amount of money you have available. If you do not win, just reload your saved game and try again.

Repeat as many times as necessary.

Many of the outfits are references to popular culture, especially Asian movies.

• Hog Pen Row – the outfit worn by the main character in Kung Fu Hustle, while the name is also a reference to the movie’s setting, Pig Sty Alley
• Manhattan Melee – the main character’s outfit in Rumble in the Bronx
• The Bon Gak – an outfit worn by the main character during a fight in Ong-Bak, while the name is also an anagram of the movie’s title
• Shen Zen – the main character’s outfit in Fists of Fury, while the name is a play on Chen Zhen
• Hai Tien Vintage Jumpsuit – the outfit worn by Hai Tien in Game of Death
• Part Time Assassin – the main character’s outfit in Fulltime Killer, with the name also being a nod to the title
• Mr. Black – a reference to a discussion in Reservoir Dogs over how everyone argues over who gets to use the name Mr. Black
• Couronne Long Jacket – the description mentions a short skirt, in reference to the song Short Skirt/Long Jacket

If you hijack a taxi and drive near the sidewalk, someone will eventually get into the backseat. Wei will respond with, “Do I look like a cab driver to you?” and the terrified passenger will leave and begin running away.

If you’re wearing a police outfit, Wei has certain unique abilities, such as flashing his badge while hijacking a car and handcuffing opponents that are at low health.

Show Collectibles on Mini-Map

Unlockables

Dating certain characters will unlock new icons on your mini-map.

You’ll meet Amanda after the second popstar mission. Take Amanda on a tour of the city and finish the mission, which will then let you invite her on a date. Once you go on the date with Amanda, uncollected Health Shrines will be displayed on the mini-map.

You’ll meet Tiffany during the “Bam Bam Club” mission. Once you have her phone number, call her for a date. Sing a song for the mission. Once you get 90% or better on the song, uncollected Jade Statues will be displayed on the mini-map.

You’ll meet Ilyana during the “Important Visitor” mission. After you complete it, call her and accept her challenge. If you win the race, uncollected Lockboxes will be displayed on the mini-map.

You’ll meet Not Ping during the “Listening” mission. Later on, after you complete “A Big Betrayal,” she’ll call you with a mission. Once you successfully hack the camera, Spy Cameras will be displayed on the mini-map.

There are 50 total Health Shrines, which boost your health, 11 Jade Statues, which unlock new melee combos (after you turn in each statue), 100 lockboxes, which contain money/weapons/clothing in addition to serving as collectibles, and 26 Spy Cameras that you can hack into. (Keep in mind that the hacking codes are random.)

Easy Money

Hints

The cockfighting arena on the far left of the map has no cap on bets. Therefore, you can earn easy money by saving right in front of the arena, betting as much money as possible, and reloading until you win.
