While the remake doesn’t quite include the original Resident Evil 2’s “zapping system,” it does include a variation of the A/B campaigns for the two characters. You will unlock the “2nd Run” campaign for the other character once you beat the first campaign. Beating Leon’s first campaign unlocks Claire’s 2nd Run, and beating Claire’s first campaign unlocks Leon’s 2nd Run.

This is a more difficult mode that includes slight changes, such as more difficult puzzles, fewer resources, and additional appearances of Mr. X.

Beating either character’s 2nd Run campaign will also unlock the true ending automatically.

If you beat the game once, you will unlock a new mode called The 4th Survivor. This follows HUNK as he escapes Raccoon City.

If you beat The 4th Survivor, you will unlock another returning fan-favorite, The Tofu survivor. This is the same scenario, except you play as tofu instead of HUNK.

Both of these are also immediately unlockable through the “All In-game Rewards Unlock” DLC.

Meanwhile, The Tofu Survivor also has alternate skins you can unlock for Tofu to play through it as other “characters”:

• Konjac – complete The Tofu Survivor.
• Uiro-Mochi – complete The Tofu Survivor.
• Flan – complete The Tofu Survivor as either Konjac or Uiro-Mochi.
• Annin Tofu – complete The Tofu Survivor as either Konjac or Uiro-Mochi.

There are several bonus weapons with infinite ammo that can be unlocked by performing the following tasks (also available through the “All In-game Rewards Unlock” DLC):

• Samurai Edge (original model) – Beat the game on Standard difficulty with an S rank.
• Combat Knife – Destroy all Mr. Raccoon figurines in the main game.
• LE 5 – Beat the game on Hardcore difficulty with an S rank.
• ATM-4 – Beat one of Leon’s scenarios on Hardcore difficulty with an S+ rank.
• Minigun – Beat one of Claire’s scenarios on Hardcore difficulty with an S+ rank.

To get an S rank, you must clear the game within a specific amount of time, depending on your chosen scenario and difficulty:

• Standard, first run – 3:30:00
• Standard, 2nd run – 3:00:00
• Hardcore, first run – 2:30:00
• Hardcore, 2nd run – 2:00:00

To get an S+ rank, you cannot save more than 3 times. Using any of the unlockable bonus weapons with infinite ammo will also invalidate your S+ rank, except for the Combat Knife bonus weapon.

There are several unlockable costumes you can get by performing the following tasks:

• Leon Casual – complete Leon’s scenario.
• Leon Police – complete Leon’s scenario.
• Leon Police (Injured) – complete Leon’s scenario.
• Leon classic costumes – complete Claire’s scenario, unlocking Leon’s 2nd Run.
• Claire Jacket – complete Claire’s scenario.
• Claire Tank Top – complete Claire’s scenario.
• Claire classic costumes – complete Leon’s scenario, unlocking Claire’s 2nd Run.
