More shoppers in the United States like the Playstation 4 than the Xbox One, according to a recent poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos.

A total of 1,297 people were surveyed online and 26% said they were likely to purchase a PS4 console once it becomes available later this year. The Xbox One on the other hand was a likely purchase for only 15% of respondents.

What’s interesting is that if you take out anyone over the age of 40 the gap becomes bigger. 41% of people would choose the PS4 versus 27% opting for the Xbox One.

Could this suggest that most parents are likely to stick with the Xbox One because the Xbox 360 has done so well this current generation, while younger people who might be a little more “up to date” in terms of the key differences between the Xbox One and Playstation 4 are preferring the later?

Either way, the the release dates of both consoles fast approaching (in just a few days time we’ll actually be able to say “next month”) all the surveys, polls and opinions will be put to the test when everyone can go out and buy these things (provided they’ve pre-ordered, most likely).
