In this game, you can speak with the chef at the sushi bar in the Treasure Eatery to modify your Tera Type. just that simple. However, you must first defeat gym leader Larry at the Medali Gym. He uses level 35 Pokemon of the Normal type. Therefore, before taking on this gym, make sure your Pokemon are at or near this level. When you've defeated Larry, go to the sushi counter at the Treasure Eatery. The chef there will inquire as to whether you want to modify the Tera type of your Pokemon. 50 Tera Shards of a specific kind of shard are required. However, the first time you go, the chef will give you normal tera shards as a lesson. Later, by participating in Tera Raid events, you can obtain Tera Shards.

Change the Tera type as follows:

• Give the chef the Tera Shards.
• Choose the Pokemon whose terratype you want to modify. So that's it.
• After that, by pressing the R button during a battle, you will have the option to terraform.

Why modify the Tera type?

You had to be careful when selecting your Pokemon in classic Pokemon battles. For instance, you would definitely lose if you faced off against a Fire-type Pokemon with a Grass-type. To counter fire-type Pokemon, you can switch your grass-type to a water-type using this new mechanic. This mechanic's introduction completely alters how you approach battle. So changing your Tera type can help you win a losing battle.
