How to Farm and Grow Crops

Guides

Growing crops is one of the most critical aspects of the game. To get the most out of every seed you plant, you’ll need to learn the ins and outs of crop growing.

Growing Spots

There are different plots of land for growing plants in different villages and towns, and each has its advantages in regard to terrain, weather, and the number of available spots. The starting farm in Lectenbury has 30 spots, while every other farm has 45 - 60 spots.

How Different Seasons and Farms Affect Your Crops

There are a few spaces that cycle through the four seasons regularly (the Starting farm, Harvest Goddess farm, Providence farm, and Twin Ponds farm). However, others have a consistent type of weather:

  • The plots available around Herbstburd are in Autumn.
  • The plots available in Lilikala are always in summer, appropriately on the sand of the beach.
  • The ground around the volcano is always superheated.
  • The land of Zimagrad is stuck in perpetual winter.

While every seed (obtained by interacting with red or blue Harvest Wisps, buying them at a shop, or earning them as rewards) has an ideal growing season, they can grow in any season you want to plant them.

Planting your seeds in different seasons and terrains may result in a unique mutation. There is a different mutation for:

  • Spring
  • Summer
  • Autumn
  • Winter
  • Flatlands
  • Desert
  • Volcano

You can raise the chance of a mutation by adding fertilizer (which can be purchased or made) and upgrading your ability with the crop, which you can do by planting more of a specific crop. Every crop you harvest goes toward your total harvest count.

For example, if you’ve planted and harvested Turnips 500 times, you are likely to receive a higher star rating in the future and get seasonal or locational mutations of turnips. Reaching level three with a seed also allows you to purchase an unlimited number of that seed.

If you’re lucky, you may even manage to grow giant crops, which sell for ten times their regular value. They take several in-game days to grow, much like regular plants, and each has a different growth time. There are 19 crops with a giant mutation:

  • Asparagus
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage
  • Carrot
  • Celery
  • Corn
  • Eggplant
  • Green Bell Pepper
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Pineapple
  • Potato
  • Pumpkin
  • Spinach
  • Strawberry
  • Tomato
  • Turnip
  • Watermelon
  • Wheat
