Before you start

Revenant (character unlock)

• Buy the Besmirched Frame (1,500 Murk) from the Jar Merchant in Roundtable Hold.
• A new portrait appears in the East Wing—interact to meet a ghostly figure, get pulled into a tutorial throwback, and face the Night Idol. Win to recruit Revenant.

Duchess (character unlock)

• Finish an expedition and obtain an Old Pocketwatch.
• Give it to the Hooded Figure in Roundtable Hold. Duchess excels at stealth, burst, and evasive strings.

Relic progression

• Relics drop whether you win or lose an expedition. Higher rarities = stronger passives.
• Farm relics to set your permanent power floor across runs. Character-specific relics come from remembrance questlines.

Remembrances

• Character stories unlock unique equipment, deeper lore beats, and more relics.
• You can replay completed remembrances via the hub journal to mop up missed objectives.

Cosmetics and fashion

• Skins and outfits unlock via achievements and Murk purchases. Expect tasteful nods to classic FromSoftware fits in the Fitting Mirror.

Starting roster

• Available at launch: Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, Ironeye, Raider, Executor.
• Unlockables: Duchess, Revenant. Every class fills a distinct lane—mix them to cover gaps in co-op.

The rare Cord End (less than 1% drop chance from church boxes) hints it “gains entry somewhere.” It does—and maybe more.

How it starts

• Farm churches for the Cord End. It’s stingy. Bring patience and loot routes.

Where it’s used

• A hidden door near the castle opens with the Cord End. The entrance is tucked away—circle the castle’s outskirts and interior walls and listen for the telltale “locked” prompt.

What’s inside

• A vault stocked with Sacrificial Twigs—they let you keep level and runes on death, but they consume a talisman slot and break on use.

The deeper puzzle

• In the Roundtable Hold’s lower crypt, three tombs whisper riddles about “bestowing branches.” Community theory: die in specific areas or events while carrying twigs to trigger the next layer.
• Rumors point to deaths vs. particular bosses or during Shattering Earth moments as potential keys.

Why chase it

• The initial reward seems underwhelming for the effort, which screams “multi-step chain.” If you’re into puzzle-chasing, this is your rabbit hole.

Some of these are handy; others can end a run. Here’s what’s live and how to deal.

Three-player item duping

• Needs a full team of three. One drops the item; two crouch on it and attempt to pick up at the exact same time (host calls the countdown).
• Works on weapons and talismans; resurrection-item behavior is inconsistent.
• Rotate who hosts to reduce desync.

Plunging attack damage glitch

• Wall-kick off tall enemies to gain extra height, then R1 mid-air. The game reads it as a plunge, landing chunky bonus damage even without cliffs.

Connectivity gremlins

• Co-op can tank frame rate, desync, or crash—especially during bosses or hub transitions.
• Workarounds: lock frame rate, avoid heavy overlays, prefer wired connections, and keep sessions lean before big encounters.

Terrain and collision weirdness

• Dragons clipping into terrain, trolls’ crit spots falling through walls, enemies scaling geometry like it’s a ladder.
• If a boss bricks, kite them back to open ground or reset the arena boundary.

Vendor/NPC despawns

• NPCs can vanish if the circle moves mid-transaction or while you’re farming currency.
• Buy fast, keep a buffer of Murk, and don’t start long dialogs near boundary shifts.

These tweaks make Nightreign feel different from base Elden Ring. Use them and your runs get instantly smoother.

Boluses are cracked (in a good way)

• In Nightreign, boluses grant permanent resistance buffs (up to +9) for your entire expedition.
• You can use boluses straight from the ground: hold pickup and press use (*Triangle/Y + D-pad Up*). Clutch mid-fight.

Aggro tells

• A red circle on a player means a boss has locked on. Call it out, reposition, and stop overlapping aoe pain.

Route smart

• Hit churches early for flask upgrades—they’re often lightly guarded.
• Churches also bias toward boluses tied to the incoming Nightlord element. Stock up before the storm hits.

Move like gravity’s optional

• No fall damage. Abuse verticality, hop gaps, and chain jump attacks—the speed buff makes them land fast and hard.

Build around synergies

• Because loot’s roguelike, you’re drafting a build on the fly. Weapons grant passives even when sheathed, so fill slots for their bonuses, not just their movesets.

Time is power

• Nominate a navigator to keep the squad moving.
• Quick-clear nearby camps for starting runes, then beeline a Site of Grace for early levels during daylight.

Here’s a clean path to the trickier badges without wasting runs.

Collectibles

• Obtained Vessels: Buy every Vessel at the Small Jar Bazaar. More stock appears as you finish expeditions.
• Replenished Sacred Flasks: Sweep churches across multiple runs until you max charges.

Progression

• The Shrouded Roundtable Hold: Unlocks once you finish the tutorial and reach the hub.
• Relic: Equip any relic at the Relic Rites table after your first expedition.
• Dresser: Beat your second Nightlord to open cosmetic options.

Combat grind

• Untold Power: Defeat 10 Great Enemies in one expedition. Route for 3–4 on Day 1, 6–7 on Day 2 (mix field bosses, Evergaols, and marked hotspots). Save burst builds for Day 2.

Map events

• Mountaintop: During the Mountaintop Shifting Terrain event, climb to the northwest peaks and claim the Power.
• Rotted Woods: Find the Power of the Woods in the Scarlet Rot forest during its event.
• The Crater: Reach the lowest crater floor and use the special smithing table to push a weapon to Legendary.

Character-centric

• Each Nightfarer has class achievements tied to their playstyle and remembrance storylines. Finish those arcs to unlock signature tools and register completions in the hub journal.
