Locations of the 18 Collectibles Hidden Throughout the Game

Guias

  • Camera - The camera is in the Life Module, on one of the shelves. You comment on how it was left behind once you’ve picked it up. You can find it while playing through the main story.
  • Boot (Yellow) - You’ll only be able to collect the yellow boot on Day 14: The Storm. While swimming around, you’ll encounter a seal with something in its mouth. Interacting with the seal will cause it to drop the item it was holding. You can pick it up to discover the single yellow fisherman’s boot.
  • Punching Bag - While recovering geological data in the Home-1 Area, you’ll encounter a few shipwrecks. One of the shipwrecks is just under the B team Boat at X: 1849 Y: -532 and contains one of the many chests you can find around the map. When you open the chest, you’ll find the punching bag.
  • Diving Helmet - You’ll find another shipwreck at X: 2007 Y: -784 (about 274 meters from the Probe area during the geological data recovery mission). Swim toward the opposite end of the ship before going in, and you’ll be in the room with a chest, which you can open to find an old diving helmet, which will give Stan a fright upon discovery.
  • Hula Doll - You’ll find a sunken bus in the Shell Flats at X: 2074 Y: -1331. If you enter the bus through the sunroof near the front, you’ll find yourself directly on the chest. Upon opening, stan will be a bit confused before remarking on how far from home the doll is and greeting it.
  • Guitar - You’ll find an old airplane wreck in the Home-1 Area about 257 meters from the Life Module at X: 1599 Y:-764. Enter it directly through the gaping hole that was once the airplane's roof and head toward the front of the plane, where you will find a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find an old acoustic guitar, which Stan will say reminds him of his old Blueridge. According to the item’s description in the collectibles menu, the guitar is still playable.
  • Vertebrae - You’ll find another old shipwreck in The Upheaval at X: 1188 Y: -250. There is a chest on the top deck where you’ll find a massive vertebra, which the item's description states is probably from a marine mammal (I wonder which one).
  • Harpoon - After finding the vertebra, stay on the wreck and head down the chute on the left (as you swim away from the vertebra chest. When you are down in the hull of the ship, there should be a chest a little ways in front of you. Upon opening it, you’ll discover a whaling harpoon, which Stan remarks has some years on it. This harpoon solves the mystery of which marine mammal the vertebra belonged to, though it wasn’t much of a mystery given the sheer size of the bone.
  • Music Box - There is a small plane in Torin’s Hollow at X: 1745 Y: 6, about 509 meters away from the Life Module. You can enter it from the hole on its right side and head towards the front to find the chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find a music box that Stan will recognize, as Tim mentioned it earlier. According to the item’s description, it has “For Callisto” lovingly etched onto the lid.
  • Whisky - While exploring Torin’s Hollows, you’ll see a sunken Fishing Vessel at about X: 1859 Y: 324. Swim down into the hull of the ship, then toward the back, where you’ll find a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find a bottle of “malt scotch,” according to the item’s description. Stan will call it “a bottle of real grog” and “cheap whiskey.”
  • Snow Globe - While exploring The Upheaval, you may happen upon a helicopter at about X: 834 Y: -430. Just below it, almost in front of its underside, sitting on the ocean floor, will be a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find a snow globe depicting the Christmas of 1969. Stan rightfully comments that it’s been down there for a long time.
  • Painting - If you head to Devil’s Hole and position yourself at X: 465 Y: -1061, you’ll find a chest sitting out on the ocean floor. Upon opening it, you’ll find an “old oil painting of unknown origin,” according to the item's description. Stan wonders to himself if the painting is an original.
  • Ship’s Wheel - While exploring Devil’s Hole at X: 500 Y: -1701, about 1146 meters away from Central Drone Control, you’ll find another old shipwreck. If you head towards the back of the ship and into the cabin, you’ll find a chest sitting on the floor. Upon opening it, you’ll find a ship’s wheel, and Stan will wonder how a boat loses its wheel.
  • Clock - Stay on the boat where you found the ship’s wheel. Head out of the cabin, down the stairs directly in front of you to the lower decks, and swim through the hull of the ship until you reach the final room in which you’ll find a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find a clock that Stan will inform you has stopped at exactly 12:01. However, the description claims that the clock is still ticking.
  • Lamp - While exploring Fisherman’s Bank at X: 1402 Y: -1684, about 258m away from the Hydrogen Bunker, you’ll find yourself near a small plane. If you head in through one of the holes on its side, then toward the front, you’ll find a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find an ancient, nonfunctional lamp which Stan remarks would look great in the Life Module.
  • Teddy Bear - You’ll find the teddy bear in a cutscene in the main campaign. During one of the many dream sequences, you’ll find yourself in Stan’s home submerged underwater. As you wander through the house, you’ll find his daughter’s bedroom, where a teddy bear will be sitting on the bed. Upon interacting with it, a cutscene will begin, showing an emotional moment Stan has with the bear. He starts by asking what it’s doing here and sitting on the bed. As he goes to pick it up, he says, “Pearl… I miss you… so, so much…” and hugs the teddy to himself as he starts crying. When he wakes up, he finds himself back in the bunker, slightly confused and insistent that he needs to get out.
  • Vinyl - On day 15, you’ll enter Section A. While exploring the area, you’ll come across the front end of a massive plane at about X: 556 Y: -824, around 145 meters from the Main Drilling Unit. You can enter the plan through a doorhole near the front. Head to the second level and move toward the back of the plane, where you should find a chest. Upon opening it, you’ll find a vinyl record, which the item description claims is “destroyed beyond usability,” something made clear by the amount of algae growing on the record. Stan doesn’t make any comments after finding this collectible.
  • Pottery - On day 17, you’ll enter Section B. While exploring this area, you’ll find another plane wreck about 349 meters away from the Diving Capsule at X: 487 Y: -491. You can enter the plane through the gaping hole at the back and swim through it until you find a pile of crates. You’ll need to swim around these before you manage to spot the final crate. Upon opening it, you’ll find what could be a pottery bowl or cup; not even the item’s description is sure. Stan doesn’t make a comment upon finding this collectible, either.

How to Complete the Photo Missions

Guias

Photo missions seem pretty simple, and for the most part, they are, but some animals can be difficult to find in the vast ocean. Fortunately, there are some spots where you are guaranteed to see these animals:

  • Octopus - Octopi are rare in the ocean. Fortunately, you’ll find a few swimming around during the Maintenance Mission. As you head in to investigate the issue, you’ll find an octopus chilling on one of the panels. Stan will make a joke about its qualification to run the equipment it's on. Take the opportunity and snap a shot of the octopus.
  • Humpback Whale - Humpback whales are another rare find in the ocean. Fortunately, they’re so large that when you do happen upon them, it’s impossible to miss them. You might find a few sleeping at Torin’s Hollows.
  • Seal - You’ll see seals everywhere, but the best place to find one is during the Algae Clean-Up Mission.
