Ways to Ensure Your Survival

Dicas

Don’t Scrounge Around for Every Piece of Loot

When you start the game, you may feel the need to look for and pick up every piece of loot you come across, but this is unnecessary. An abundance of loot is hidden throughout the map that respawns once you exit an area. As you progress through the game and upgrade all your weapons, you might find yourself with too many crafting materials, which you’ll have to sell to make room for other items.

Essential items (blueprints, keys, and documents) are highlighted by a glowing white particle effect, making them impossible to miss when encountering them. Don’t stress too much about the seemingly unlockable doors you come across in the early stages of the game. As you progress, you’ll eventually find the keys and be led back to a specific area.

Stock Up on Fuses

Fuses are about $1500 and can only be purchased from vendors, but they are well worth it. There are certain doors you will come across that can only be opened with a fuse and are more than likely hiding beneficial early-/mid-game weapons.

Keep and Upgrade Your Favourite Weapons

The game has a variety of melee weapons that you can find while exploring the map, each with a unique attack style. As you cycle through the lower-level weapons, you’ll get to learn each of these attack styles.

This means that once you start finding better weapons with your preferred attack style, the best course of action is to upgrade them to match your level rather than scrapping them in favor of something else. Using a weapon that you’re efficient with is much better than using a weapon just because it is at a higher level.

Upgrading Weapons Repairs Them

If you’ve returned from a mission having gained an extra level, but your weapon needs repairing, don’t repair it immediately. Instead, upgrade it, as this will automatically repair it, meaning you can use the cash that you would have spent on repairs on something else.

Keep One Weapon of Each Attack Style

The different attack styles of melee weapons can be helpful in various situations, so it’s good to ensure you have one favorite weapon per attack style:

  • Headhunter - good for causing a zombie critical damage, but requires accuracy to hit the target.
  • Bulldozer - gives you breathing room by knocking over several zombies at once. Less powerful on single targets than other weapons.
  • Frenzy - allows fast attacks that perform several critical hits against an enemy in a row—an excellent weapon to use against Apex variants.
  • Maiming - the best attack style to have equipped as it means you can easily dismember zombies. Cutting off their limbs dramatically reduces their effectiveness. We highly recommend keeping two as they’re the most useful, and if one breaks while you’re exploring, you won’t be completely helpless. Maiming weapons are also necessary for finding specific crafting materials.

Keep More Than One Elemental Weapon on Hand

You can take out zombies using elements such as fire, electricity, and caustic liquid and also have the option to modify your weapons to deal different kinds of elemental damage. This is great, as you can deal a lot of damage quickly, but you must be careful when modifying your weapons.

Some enemies have a natural resistance to certain elements, and if you try to use an elementally charged weapon they’re resistant to, you won’t do any damage. Be sure you have powerful weapons that use each elemental type; otherwise, you might struggle.

Health Packs Remove Status Effects

Accidentally setting yourself on fire can happen to even the best players. Using a health pack will heal a large portion of your health and instantly remove status effects like bleeding, caustic, fire, or shock.

Dodge, Don’t Block.

At the beginning of the game, you can choose between two defensive abilities: block or dodge. Blocking or dodging just before an enemy attacks can open them up for a counterattack. You should do it often, as you can deal a large amount of damage through a takedown attack. From mid-game onwards, you’ll find various Skill Cards that can adjust your counterattack to increase damage, give you a health boost, or another perk.

We’ve found that dodging is much better than blocking, as a mistimed dodge won’t give you a counterattack, but you’ll have still moved out of the way of an attack, while a mistimed dodge will leave you directly in the path of an enemies attack.
