Want to experiment or practice freely?

• Trainers: Tools like WeMod (and similar) offer toggles for health, resources, and more. If you use them, do it offline and understand it’ll trivialize progression.
• Community guides: Steam guides and beginner write-ups are great for routing, character priorities, and build ideas. A common tip: practice deflect/clash and pour Seeds into one main early on.
• YouTube: Look up boss showcases, hidden routes, and character move breakdowns if you’re stuck on a secret or want build inspiration.
• Achievement trackers: Sites that list trophies/achievements with community notes can help you find sticking points fast.

Use these as learning tools—then come back and crush a legit run.

You’ll start with Galandra (rangy, fast, great crowd control) and Karl (short reach, hits like a truck). From there:

• Cider: Beat the first mini-boss in the Grandery. You’ll see Cider in the safe area after either boss path. On your next run, you’ll meet Cider again near the forest on the way to the Underking’s castle—help out in that fight to recruit them to the Sanctuary. Cider’s special is a powerful grapple with situational skills.
• Brome: Defeat the Underking and push into Jaroba. Find Vikhana the Joyful and free her from plant restraints; she’ll mark Brome in a northern tunnel. Brome’s a wizard with strong staff normals, great deflect potential, and potent ranged magic.

Who to main first? Galandra is the most forgiving—speed, reach, and control. Karl is perfect if you love big payoffs and don't mind learning timing the hard way.

Break ritual crystals mid-run to choose power-ups. Recruit Vikhana and you’ll often get a third option. First unlock each element by finding its chained crystal:

• Fire: Unlocked during the prologue tutorial.
• Water: Reach the Old Coast and defeat the Exiled guarding the crystal.
• Wind: Push through the Giggling Forest and cross the bridge to the crystal.
• Thunder: Beat the Grandery’s first miniboss, head toward the Underking’s castle, then descend into the Old Mines.
• Bramble: Appears on the main path in Jaroba’s second region.
• Necromancy: Detour during the sea voyage toward Jaroba to a secret region called Yeldrim.
• Time: End-game—reach Azra at the end of Asterios and survive the encounter twice.
• Chaos: In Yeldrim, use the emote password to enter the mansion route and defeat The Interloper.

Upgrading rituals:

• Spend Imbued Fruits at Vikhana to buff a ritual’s future variants. Fruits come from raising Radiance, run performance, and Wisshelm’s tasks.
• Upgrades only apply when that element shows up and you pick it—so it's efficient to focus on the elements you love.

A few standout secrets worth hunting:

• Hagen, the Spectral Doom (Secret Boss): From the hub’s upper path, reach the beach with the giant dragon skeleton. Clear the area, hold your gesture menu, then hit the thumbs-down emote to summon the fight.
• The “secret cat” hint: Spot a little cat in the background? There’s a hidden route or interaction nearby. Poke around.
• Mouldy Cave + Mushtroll: At the very first node, bash the rocks in the bottom-right dark corner multiple times to open a cave. Fight the Mushtroll inside for a chunky early-run inspiration bonus. You can also choose your next boss (Rudolf or Gazog) from here.
• Heart of the Mist (Fountain): When a goblin asks about fountains, take the alternate path. You’ll find a drum with an arrow—hit it twice, follow where it points, and repeat until you reach the fountain.
• Yeldrim Mansion Password: At Yeldrim’s fifth node, a cultist blocks a top-right gate. Perform two emotes in order: thumbs-down, then thumbs-up. You’ll gain access to the mansion route.
• The Interloper (Chaos Unlock): Inside the mansion, move past the statue (yes, off-screen) to find the boss. Phase two gets wild—its health bar distorts on purpose. Beat it to unlock Chaos rituals.

Fun references sprinkled everywhere:

• Homages to classic fighters, character action, comics, and anime in various moves (you’ll spot them). It’s basically a love letter to genre nerds.

If the PC version gets cranky, try these:

• DirectX/GPU errors: Update GPU drivers (NVIDIA/AMD/Intel). Install the latest DirectX runtime. Reinstall Visual C++ redistributables. Verify game files. Disable overlays (Steam/Discord/GeForce). Disable fullscreen optimizations. Run as admin. Reset GPU overclocks to stock.
• AFK/controller soft lock in hub: If you freeze after being idle, relaunch. Consider disabling/background apps that may steal input focus.
• Save crashes: Try loading a different save, then return; otherwise verify files or temporarily roll back recent settings/overlays.
• Won’t launch after OS update: Reinstall drivers, repair DirectX/VC++, and check security software exceptions.

Difficulty confusion:

• Meta-progression can enable tougher optional rooms (elites/portals). If the game feels harder as you grow, that’s why. You can adjust damage ratios in settings—e.g., boosting your damage and lowering incoming damage—to keep runs fun while you learn.
• Some difficulty toggles are limited in multiplayer mode; tweak ratios instead.

Everything’s eventually doable—no missables. A few pointers:

• Mushtroll: Open the Mouldy Cave at the very start (break rocks bottom-right), then beat the boss.
• Repopulate the Hidden Sanctuary: Find and recruit all optional NPCs as you discover their quests. The map marks points of interest once seen.
• Perform 10 Arcana as Brome on one level: Pick Brome, stock mana/rituals that refund or reduce costs, and spam specials before exiting the area.
• Find your first Hearthroot: Keep exploring—heart-shaped roots are your early healing upgrades.
• Under New Management: At the pirate ship, make sure the captain’s door isn't blocked by enemies, punch the lock, loot the stash, and face Zafari.
• Heart of the Mist: Solve the two-hit drum puzzle across splits to reach the fountain.
• A Knight’s Tale: Follow Galandra’s quest markers through the mists for the clone encounters.
• Naturalist: Progress the related character quest to reach Alberich and defeat him.
• Great Old One: Enter Yeldrim’s mansion via emote password and defeat The Interloper.
• Leap of Faith: Find a proper drop and jump with the Dragon Whelp mount equipped.
• Fired Up: For raft segments, play patient—gather goblins, then use specials/heavy strings to keep control without taking hits.
• Never-ending Memories: Hit a 500-hit combo using echo/clone effects and multi-hit rituals to maintain juggle pressure.

Absolum’s combat clicks when your defense turns into offense. Three tools carry you:

• Dodge: Dash out of harm’s way. Time it late to slip an attack and counter instantly.
• Deflect: Dash into an attack to parry it. It’s got a generous window and pops foes open for free hits. Great when you don't want to give up ground.
• Clash: Press heavy or a skill at the exact impact frame. Nail it, and you'll stun for a huge punish. Each character’s timing is a little different, so practice.

Two hidden rules shape the flow:

• Repetition: Spam the same string and enemies “catch on,” popping out of your combo. Mix in different normals, movement, throws, and defense.
• Overpressure: Do enough damage and enemies enter a short window of extra vulnerability. Recognize it and dump your big hits.

Quick tips:

• Practice deflect and clash on the Sanctuary dummy to feel the timing without pressure.
• Bosses telegraph more clearly—learn their cadence, then pivot between deflects and clashes.
• When surrounded, deflect keeps you planted; when cornered, dodge to reposition; when a big swing is coming, fish for the clash.

Your between-run power comes from a few currencies and friendly faces:

• Primordial Seeds: Spend at Ederig to unlock character abilities and expand movesets. Investing deeply in one main early is more efficient than spreading thin.
• Fistful of Crystals (Soul Tree): Permanent buffs like max HP, crit chance, damage, and starting resources. A little goes a long way.
• Imbued Fruits: Earned via Radiance gains and Wisshelm’s challenges. Spend at Vikhana to upgrade ritual variants.
• Kahlo the Trader: Appears mid-run selling items/allies. Good for smoothing bad RNG.
• Secret item room: Buy previously discovered items with Crystals to start runs geared up.

About Radiance:

• Perform well, go deeper, earn more Radiance. Each tier can award Seeds or Fruits. You can also lower difficulty to practice and still nudge Radiance up.

Arcana progression:

• Second Arcana slot becomes available via character quests after the Underking. You still need to find it mid-run to use it.
• Arcana Mastery levels are powerful but intentionally vague—experiment to learn what breaks your build open.

A few easy wins to keep Absolum silky:

• Drivers & runtimes: Keep GPU drivers current. Install the DirectX runtime and Visual C++ redistributables again if you see weird errors.
• Overlays & admin: Disable overlays, run the game as admin, and turn off fullscreen optimizations if you get startup or stutter issues.
• Thermals: Monitor temps (keep GPU under ~85°C, CPU under ~90°C). If you’re overclocked and crashing, try stock clocks.
• Storage: A clean install on an SSD helps with load times and streaming hitches.
• Verify files: If anything acts up, verify your install via your platform launcher.

Console notes:

• On Switch family systems, you can play 1–2 players locally or online (Nintendo Switch Online required for online). Some controllers/accessories may be needed on handheld-only models.
