Beginner's Guide

Wskazówki

Find Food Quickly

When you start up the game, you'll find yourself with a piece of fruit and a quickly declining hunger and thirst bar. If you don't find food fast, the first thirty minutes or so of the game aren't going to be easy.

There are two ways to get food in the early game: killing zombies in hopes that they'll drop spreads and scanned meat and foraging for fruit in open county lanes. You can try looking for fruit in orchards, but given that they're usually barren, it's not really worth it.

Keep Chlorine Tablets On You at All Times

Water is equally important as food, especially since dehydration can affect your blood regeneration. Not only should you always carry a container like a bottle, canteen, or cooking but also chlorine tablets.

The tablets allow you to draw water from rivers, streams, and ponds without contracting Cholera. Just drop one into your container and sip away.

Disinfect Your Items

As you progress through the game, you're more than likely to be hurt by a zombie. You'll need to take care of this bite using clothes you've torn into Rags as bandages, but do it with dirty Rags, and you may find your session ending sooner than you expected.

If you tear Rags and they're less than Pristine, you'll need to clean them with Alcoholic Tincture, Disinfectant Spray, or Iodine Tincture. Before stitching up any injuries, you should also use these chemicals to disinfect damaged bandages and a Sewing Kit or Leather Sewing Kit.

Make Sure You're Well Insulated

The nights contain enough dangers, including wolves, bears, zombies, and even players. While you can't control when you deal with any of these enemies, you can control your warmth with the proper clothing and thus prevent yourself from getting sick.

Hunter garments offer the best insulation, and you can add to their warmth with gloves, ski masks, and hats. Just make sure you keep up repairs on your clothes. Good insulation won't do you any good if it's badly damaged.

Create a Stash

Loots on good to you when hoarded on your person. It'll slow you down, leaving you more prone to an enemy's attack. You'll want to travel light so that you conserve stamina and don't have to consume as much food and drink.

However, if you want to collect items to ensure you hold out for as long as possible, there is a way to ensure other players do not raid you. Bases are cool, but they draw attention. Instead, find a secluded spot and create a stash from Wood Crates or Improvised Shelters.

The less populated an area, the safer your stash will be (you can even bury it somewhere only you know).

Avoid Military Bases

The game has many locations with plenty of loot for you to nab, but rushing to these locations can get you killed quite quickly, especially if you're playing on a busy server.

Military bases are almost guaranteed death traps with wide open spaces and little cover. The weaponry hidden around these bases is high-grade and, in the right hands, will blast new players off the map with no mercy.

Don't go near these bases unless you're feeling particularly sure of your odds against veteran players who know where the best loot is.

Avoid Busy Servers

While you might want to jump into the action as soon as you load up your game, as a beginner, it's better to jump onto a quiet or empty server so that you can learn the game's mechanics without worrying about being shot in the back of the head by a player looking for an easy kill.

If you find yourself dying from dehydration or dragging yourself around on two broken legs, just stash your loot and load in another survivor. You won't lose much progress, and you should be able to find your items quite easily.

Once you've got the hang of the game and understand where to find the best loot, you can join busier servers.

Don't Bother with Melee Weapons

While melee weapons work when you're taking out a couple of pesky zombies, they're no good when dealing with another player, especially since their hit detection isn't particularly great.

Firing a few rounds into an enemy's torso is much easier than wildly swinging around with an axe. Melee weapons work as a last resort for bashing zombies or crafting requirements, but if you need space in your inventory, they should be the first thing you drop.

Confirm Your Kills

When a player falls to the ground, this doesn't always mean they're dead; they could just be unconscious. The game also doesn't have a kill feed to confirm that you've killed a player. You must ensure you've landed the killing blow before looting your enemies.

When a player is unconscious, they usually lie in a specific position, and if you watch them for a moment, you'll see that they're still breathing, an animation you'll quickly learn to look out for if you're ever surprised by a player regaining consciousness.
