There are other ways besides playing through Darksiders 1 to unlock some great items in Darksiders 2. To unlock the level 5 axe Rusanov's Axe, you need simply like the Darksiders 2 Facebook page. Doing so will grant you an unlock code that can be used to get this menacing axe.

The Darksiders 2 Official Strategy Guide also comes with a code to unlock a piece of equipment called Fletcher's Crow Hammer. Lastly, if you purchased the Collector's Edition version of the game, you'll be able to unlock the Shadow Death armor and scythe set.

Nightmare Difficulty

If you thought the apocalyptic difficulty setting would be the pinnacle of the game's challenge to you, think again. If you can manage to beat the game on that setting, you'll unlock nightmare difficulty, a horrifying challenge of even the most ardent Darksiders player's ability.

Avatar Rewards

Accomplishing various tasks within the game will unlock different avatar items which can be used to dress up your character. Beating the game on any difficulty level will unlock the Darksiders Art Shirt. Beat the Crowfather to unlock the Darksiders Logo Cap. Lastly, making your way through the Crucible Arena will grant you the Death Mask.

Item Duplication

Sending someone an in-game item and them immediately logging out of your account has the effect of not actually removing the item from your inventory, though the person you sent it to still receives the item. You can use this trick to make duplicates of some of the best items in the game, and help yourself and your friends get through it easier.

New Game + Mode

While New Game + mode does carry your rank over into the New Game, all other data does not carry over, so you'll effectively be losing all of that data as you overwrite it with the New Game + file. So unless you intend to play through the game fully again and unlock everything, you may wish to avoid starting a New Game +
