Tweak MO:Astray with Cheat Engine (PC only)
CheatsWant to poke under the hood? Cheat Engine tables let you tweak things like health, energy, and other values on PC. They work like a trainer, but you can see and flip the exact pointers, which is great if you’re curious how systems tick.
How to get started:
- Install Cheat Engine, then load a community .CT table made for MO:Astray.
- Attach the process, toggle the cheats you want, and map hotkeys for quick on/off.
- Expect version-specific tables. If a toggle doesn’t work, you might need a different CT.
Friendly reminders:
- PC-only. Consoles don’t support this.
- Back up saves. Test changes in a safe area.
- If you want to compare how the game feels unmodded, watch a clean run below.
Energy Lockout Toggle (v1.3.2)
CheatsThere’s a quirky energy cheat for v1.3.2 that drains your energy to zero and then stops it from recharging. Sounds wild because it is—great for testing or self-imposed challenges, not so great for comfort.
Before you try it:
- Confirm your game version matches 1.3.2.
- Back up your saves.
- Apply the file, load a test area, and see if the lockout triggers as described.
Why use it?
- To practice energy-starved routes, puzzle timings, or boss phases.
- To stress-test your positioning and shield habits.
Heads-up: It’s easy to softlock yourself if you rely on energy for traversal. If things go sideways, revert to your backup.
Scanning three special infected creatures unlocks the “Going Deeper” achievement and extra lore. They’re not standard enemies and only appear in specific spots:
- Ch.2, Area 5: Near the waterfall climb after the big drainage room; check the right-side rooms past the locked door.
- Ch.3, Area 3: Underground section accessible mid-chapter after story progress.
- Ch.4, Area 3: System-themed area later on—watch for a tucked-away encounter.
Tips:
- Scan their minds to log the entries; that’s what counts.
- Getting killed by them can freeze the game, but your progress still sticks. Save first just in case.
PC Performance Fixes: Stutters, Freezes, and Checkpoint Hangs
GlitchesIf your frame rate swings from buttery to busted—especially around checkpoints or death screens—try this stability pass:
- Cap FPS to 60 using a limiter (e.g., MSI Afterburner). It smooths spikes.
- Install on an SSD and verify files in Steam.
- Deep clean + verify:
- Close the game.
- Delete the contents of \Steam\steamapps\common\MOAstray
- In Steam: Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity
- Let it reinstall fresh.
- Still stuck? Send your specs + logs to support at [email protected] so they can dig in.
Make Your Controller Work on PC (Steam Settings Inside)
GlitchesSome gamepads won’t register or randomly disconnect. Steam’s configs usually fix it.
Try this:
- Steam Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > enable Generic Gamepad Configuration Support.
- Per-game override: set controller to Forced On. If inputs get weird, try Forced Off and play keyboard-only temporarily.
- If wireless is flaky, test wired. Update or reinstall your controller drivers (manufacturer software helps).
- Using Steam Link? Some players get smoother input by streaming in keyboard mode instead of native controller mode.
Combat Flow Tips: Parasites, Shields, and Smart Positioning
Hints- Read the tells. Most attacks telegraph—move early, not late.
- Parasitize with purpose. Jump into stronger infected to flip the fight or bypass messy waves.
- Shield on the converge. Pop shields when multiple threats align, then let it recharge.
- Stay in motion vs. bosses. Treat arenas like obstacle courses; momentum > perfect aim.
- Spend energy wisely. Save sprints and dashes for escapes and invuln windows.
Exploration Secrets: Waterfalls, Pipes, and Off-Screen Paths
Hints- Dive deep. Water often hides downward routes and fragments.
- Climb high. Check for grippable walls and off-screen ledges.
- Ride the pipes. They’re shortcuts, secrets, and safer paths through hot zones.
- Push and poke. Buttons, crates, and switches unlock hidden corridors.
- Watch the background. Windows and wall gaps hint at nearby hidden rooms.
Every Memory Fragment for the True Ending
GuidesCollecting all memory fragments is the key to the true ending and a few achievements. The chapter select tells you where you’re missing items, so use it to mop up stragglers.
Quick sweep notes:
- General tips
- Fragments must be read/consumed to count.
- Expect to miss 15–20 on a first run—backtracking is normal.
- Check side paths, pipes, and vertical routes more than once.
- Chapter 1
- The first fragment is right after you wake up in the tube. Keep an eye on early facility logs and side rooms.
- Chapter 2
- Search waterfalls and underground passages. A sneaky one sits in Area 3-4 behind a waterfall—drop down instead of climbing up.
- Chapters 3–5
- Fragments fill in the backstory around Elara, extremergy, and the Final Termination Weapon. The later chapters are heavier on lore—don’t rush past readable terminals.
When in doubt, comb through rooms with water, pipes, and high ledges. Those hide a surprising number of fragments.
How to Trigger MO:Astray’s True Ending (No Replay Needed)
GuidesThe true ending hinges on one condition: have every memory fragment before the final boss.
Do this:
- Use chapter select to clean up any missing fragments across Chapters 1–5.
- Jump to Chapter 5, fight the final boss.
- With all memories collected, you’ll get an extended ending sequence with extra narrative detail.
If you beat the boss without all memories, you’ll see the normal ending. The game doesn’t flag a second chance—finish your collection first.
Boss Strategies: Patterns, Priorities, and Rhythm Beams
GuidesA quick read on every major boss so you can spend less time faceplanting and more time styling.
- Error Convergence (Ch.1)
- Watch tentacle swing tells and stay opposite the active side.
- It drops infected creatures—use them to bait or clear space.
- Later phases speed up; keep moving, don’t tunnel-vision.
- Death Trap (Ch.2)
- Octagonal arena with six laser cannons. Step on the glowing platform to fire the cannon across from it.
- Every two destroyed cannons triggers a spear from above that nukes a platform—plan your route.
- Phase two adds ceiling saws. Prioritize clean rotations over perfect shots.
- King of Formatters (Ch.3)
- Manage infection and shields. Threat priority matters.
- Bird-type enemies and spider mines hurt the most—delete them first.
- Dylan & Formator’s Chariot (Ch.4)
- Multi-phase, layered attacks. Pre-place shields, don’t panic-activate.
- Control your position to avoid getting pinched between patterns.
- Final Weapon / Far Far Life (Ch.5)
- Rhythm-like beam sequences with audio cues. Count beats, dash through gaps on the off-beat.
- Consistency over greed—if you miss a window, reset your rhythm and try the next cycle.
100% Achievement Roadmap (26 Trophies in ~12 Hours)
GuidesKnocking out all 26 achievements on PC is very doable in 10–12 hours if you pair a story run with a cleanup pass.
- Story milestones
- Most pop as you clear chapters and bosses. Just play through.
- Collections
- All memory fragments are mandatory for several achievements and the true ending.
- “Going Deeper”: scan three hidden infected creatures in:
- Ch.2, Area 5 (near the waterfall climb after the big drainage room)
- Ch.3, Area 3
- Ch.4, Area 3
- Stability tip
- These special creatures can crash/freeze the game when they kill you, but the scan still counts. Save before engaging them.
Use chapter select to tidy up anything missing, and you’ll hit 100% without a full replay.
