Well, if you missed the gameplay preview of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain because of us, we apologize. When we did the time conversion for the airing of Kojima Station, we accidentally reversed it and said the webcast would air Friday morning, instead of this morning.
Take a look at this snippet of gameplay to get a feeling for what The Phantom Pain will be like.
Kojima also showed the huge map for The Phantom Pain, with the maps of previous games in the series (from Metal Gear all the way up to MGS V: Ground Zeroes) highlighted within it to show how tiny they are in comparison.
To make it clear: the entire area is The Phantom Pain’s map, and those little colored squiggles are the maps of the games pointing to them.
What do you think? (And once again, we apologize for the timing mix-up.)

If you’ve been waiting to see some comparison screenshots before deciding which console to buy Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes for, you’re in luck—we’ve got some for you today.
Konami released shots from the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One versions of the game. There are two separate comparisons, one of a daytime mission and one of a nighttime mission.
In addition to providing the screenshots, Konami also announced that the game will run on the PS4 at 1080 p and 60fps, on the Xbox One at 720p and 60 fps, and on the PS3/Xbox 360 at 720p (scaling internally) and 30 fps. Hideo Kojima said the focus on resolution and frame rate “makes little sense” to him, but he released the information because it clearly mattered to many players.
Xbox One
Playstation 4
なので、よく聴かれる機種別の「フレームレート」や「解像度」は僕的にはほとんど意味がない。でも、あまりにも聴かれるので、明日くらいに公開する予定w

He mentioned that the increased frame rate on the PS4 and Xbox One makes it hard to return to the old generation consoles after seeing it, but that the FOX Engine was created to make open-world games run smoothly on older consoles.
You can check out the screenshots to see the comparisons for yourself. Dualshockers went a step further and combined the comparisons into animated GIFs, so you can see one switch to the other. Check them out and let us know what you think. Konami plans to release a video comparing the game across platforms, as well. We’ll keep you updated.

A limited edition Ground Zeroes PS4 console bundle was also announced, although currently it’s exclusive to Japan.
We aren’t surprised at all to see that this has caused even more controversy over the Xbox One’s difficulty with running games at 1080p and 60 fps. Some Reddit users have taken to joking that the 1080p vs. 720p issue is the real reason Microsoft didn’t name its new console the Xbox 720. Where do you fall on this issue? Will the resolution help determine which version you buy, or do you find the controversy as puzzling as Kojima does?
