Tuning Your Starter Car to Dominate Races

Guides

Ensure you explore settings such as AI difficulties, customizing the setup, and other information regarding transmission, suspension, tires, etc. A well-configured setup will enhance your performance during laps. Go to the “Modifying Preset” option, and you can start making the following changes.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics helps with balance. If you select the Aerodynamics option, you will find that you can change two settings: Front Wing Aero and Rear Wing Aero. Set “Front Wing Aero” at 36 and “Rear Wing Aero” at 35. This will enhance your car's grip on the track and establish a balance between the front and back of the car during races.

Transmission

This setting mainly involves adjusting the differentials of the car and influencing how power is distributed to the rear wheels. When you select Transmission, you will find that you can adjust two settings: Differential Adjustments on Throttle and Differential Adjustments Off Throttle.

Set “Differential Adjustments On Throttle” to 56% and “Differential Adjustments Off Throttle” to 54%. These adjustments will prevent your car from losing balance during acceleration and improve its overall stability.

Suspension Geometry

This setting determines how your tires will respond to the surface of the track and enhance their grip when turning corners. You will find four adjustable settings in the Suspension Geometry section: Front Chamber, Rear Chamber, Front Toe-Out, and Rear Toe-In. Set “Front Chamber” to -2.50°, “Rear Chamber” to -1.00°, “Front Toe-Out” to 0.00° and “Rear Toe-In to 0.12°. With these adjustments, you can achieve balance for optimal speed during each lap without compromising tire wear.

Suspension

This configuration is crucial for the performance of your car, specifically when it comes to bumps, abrupt braking, and acceleration. You will find six adjustable settings in this section: Front Suspension, Rear Suspension, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Rear Anti-Roll Bar, Front Ride Height, and Rear Ride Height. Set “Front Suspension” to 15, “Rear Suspension” to 10, “Front Anti-Roll Bar” to 9, “Rear Anti-Roll Bar” to 1, “Front Ride Height” to 37, and “Rear Ride Height” to 40.

Brakes

There are two adjustable settings in this section: Brake Pressure (which determines the max braking power of the car) and Front Brake Bias (which refers to the proportion of braking force distributed to the front wheels. Set “Brake Pressure” to 100% and “Front Brake Bias” to 57%.

Tire

This section has four adjustable settings: Front Right Tire Pressure, Front Left Tire Pressure, Rear Right Tire Pressure, and Rear Left Tire Pressure. Set “Front Right Tire Pressure” to 22.9 psi, “Front Left Tire Pressure” to 22.6 psi, “Rear Right Tire Pressure” to 20.2 psi, and “Rear Left Tire Pressure to 20.2 psi.

Beginners Guide

Hints

You can adjust various features and settings in the game to your liking, including the difficulty of your AI opponents. Each track requires a specific car setup, but you can ensure more victories by taking advantage of these customizable settings and learning to control your car at different speeds.

Balanced Preset

Go to the “Select and Customize” menu, where you will find six options to personalize your setup, one being “Balanced Preset.” Not only does this option eliminate the tune to tune your car's components, allowing for a seamless gameplay experience, but it’ll give you an idea of how a car handles on a track.

Starting with the Balanced Presets allows you to learn about your car’s performance and responsiveness and observe how AI opponents operate during races.

Adjust the Difficulty of the AI

Go to the “Settings” menu and find the “Difficulty” option, which will open a tab displaying numbers. You can directly influence the outcome of a race by increasing or decreasing the AI’s difficulty level. Setting it too high can make it challenging to keep up with your opponents, but setting it too low can make it too easy and take away the enjoyment of winning races.

You can start easy, keeping your opponents' difficult level within the 20 - 39 range, then gradually increasing their difficulty so you are ready for more challenging races.

Taking advantage of AI adjustments like this is a great way to boost your confidence, but how do you find the perfect difficulty from the get-go? We recommended doing a Grand Prix session with a One-Shot qualifying mode and setting the AI difficulty at 75. When choosing a car, you should set the car’s performance to equal performance to get the most accurate outcome. Once you’ve completed the qualifying lap, check where you qualify on the grid. The lap times you see will give you a good indication of AI’s ultimate one-lap pace, making this race perfect for comparison. If you find yourself set more towards the front, you may want to consider upping your difficulty level to give yourself more of a challenge. However, if you fall more toward the back, you should lower your difficulty level until your skill improves and you can start raising it. Adjust the difficulty in increments of ten until you find the setting that works for you, then fine-tune it from there.

Ensure you always put the AI’s difficulty level just above your skill level so that you are challenged and pushed to improve your speed.

Make Use of Assists

Go to the “Settings” menu and find the “Assists” option. Assists can enhance your control skills and give you a clear shot at victory if you use them correctly. There are a range of driving options and assists, and each is accompanied by a description tab that gives you insight into how each Assist will help you, your car’s performance, and more technical aspects.

ABS, Traction Control, and Automatic Gears are great when you’re just getting started and don’t make the car difficult to control. Once you get better at the game, you can lower them and give yourself more control over your car. Don’t do it too quickly, though, as you can cause the game to become frustrating and more difficult than it needs to be.

Dynamic Racing Line is particularly helpful if you get overtaken during a race. It acts as a guide, showing you the best time to accelerate and brake, meaning you can easily overtake opponents by remaining calm and executing your skills as you need to.

Braking and Steering Assists should be turned off as they interfere with gameplay.

Practice with Time Trials

The best way to get used to various aspects of different tracks, such as various conditions and temperatures, is to use Time Trials. They’re designed to improve your performance by refining your brake and acceleration techniques and enhancing your performance.

Personalize the Technical Components of Your Car

  • Aerodynamics - This configuration allows you to modify your car's front and rear wings, which are crucial in maintaining balance while driving at high speeds.
  • Transmission - how the rear wheels work together during acceleration. This setup determines how your car will take corners and the traction available when you exit a turn.
  • Geometry Setups - Tune your tire chambers and determine their mechanical grip.
  • Suspension Setups - determines how your car responds to bumps and aggressive braking.
  • Brakes - influences the braking performance of your car. It allows you to adjust brake bias and distribute braking force between the front and rear brakes.
  • Tyers - allows you to regulate the rate at which your tires heat up and their temperature while you’re on the track. Adjusting the pressure is essential in preventing overheating and premature wear during a race.

After learning more about how your car performs on different tracks and how the AI responds to your play style, you should use this option. Be careful when making modifications, as they can significantly influence your vehicle's performance.

Check Out the Different Game Modes

There are various game modes you can play through, including quick races, full championships, and in-depth RPGs. Thanks to these modes, players can choose their experience and how they want to spend their time.

Starting with Time Trials and Grand Prix will help you learn the game. Moving into Breaking Point or My Team Mode is perfect if you want to invest your time into a more in-depth game mode.

Breaking Point continues the story from F1 21 and is a story-driven mode with cutscenes and actors.

My Team mode allows you to create your own team and car and compete against other drivers playing the game.

F1 World is a new game mode that allows you to customize and upgrade your car and acts like a mini RPG. You can earn upgrades by completing objectives and finishing events. You can compete in different scenarios, events, and multiplayer events.
