There is a small chance that the “Kappa” boss will spawn instead of the normal boss during a boss level.
If the game can’t load all the data, it doesn’t display a regular error screen. Instead, it briefly displays a fake level called “Ghosty Ghosts Forest of Ghosts” with a boss called Megatron Ultralisk Oltrus.
Megatron is the name of a character from Transformers and Ultralisk is a type of zerg in StarCraft. Oltrus may be a reference to Ultrus from Dragon Quest VIII or Ultros from the Final Fantasy series.
One of the possible mercenary names is Leeroy Jenkins, in reference to the World of Warcraft player who charged into combat while shouting his name, leading to his group’s defeat, and became a meme as a result.
There is an in-game achievement for burying Leeroy Jenkins, with the achievement text, “At least he had chicken.”

Bubos, Ancient of Diseases – “Bubos” is a reference to the bubonic plague.
Dora, Ancient of Discovery – This is a reference to the show Dora the Explorer.
Energon, Ancient of Battery Life – “Energon” is the fuel source used by the Transformers.
Hecatoncheir, Ancient of Wallops – This name comes from the Hecatoncheires, giants in Greek mythology with 100 hands.
Morgulis, Ancient of Death – “Morgulis” is a nod to the phrase “valar morghulis” from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series, which means “all men must die.”
Siyalatas, Ancient of Abandon – When spoken, this name sounds similar to “see you later.”
Solomon, Ancient of Wisdom – This Ancient is named for King Solomon, who was known for his wisdom.
