Hints and TIps

Hints

At the start of the game, focus on killing Dodos. They’re easy enough for you to handle early on, and they’ll supply you with meat, hides, and experience.

When one of your tools breaks, you can craft another one (which is faster) or repair the broken one to use fewer resources.

Beams of light indicate special Beacons where you can find supplies. Their color indicates the level at which you can open them.

White Beacon – You must be at least level 3.

Green Beacon – You must be at least level 15.

Blue Beacon – You must be at least level 25.

Purple Beacon – You must be at least level 35.

Yellow Beacon – You must be at least level 45.

Red Beacon – You must be at least level 60.

If you destroy a storage box, it will drop its contents. You’ll be able to take whatever was inside as a bundle.

Different tools let you harvest different materials:

Hatchet – You’ll get more stone from rocks, more wood from wood, and more hide, chitin, and keratin from corpses.

Pick – You’ll get more flint from rocks, more thatch from wood, and more meat from corpses.

Some of the most important Engrams to put your points into are the Campfire, the Waterskin, Narcotics, the Dinosaur Gateway, the Fence Foundation, and buildings.

Metal buildings are the safest, especially for while you’re offline. Continually upgrade your structures and increase your defense. It is also good to have a Vault, which you can use to protect valuable items.

Taming dinosaurs is important, and you should continue to do it as you progress through the game. Make sure you feed them. While some people recommend letting the dinosaur become hungry so that it will have a greater appreciation for you when you bring it food, the time you spend not feeding the dinosaur usually balances out the decreased taming time. Make sure they have a supply of food for when you’re offline, although they will go through it more slowly.

To tame a carnivore:

Their preferred type of Kibble speeds up the taming process by 5 times.

Raw Meat Prime speeds up the taming process by 3 times.

Cooked Prime Meat and Prime Meat Jerky both speed up the taming process by 1.5 times.

All other foods help tame the carnivore at a steady rate, except for a type of Kibble that is not their preferred type, which has a slower effect at taming the carnivore.

To tame an herbivore:

Kibble works the same as with carnivores for most herbivores. The one exception is the Brontosaurus, which is tamed 8 times faster with its preferred Kibble instead of only 5 times faster.

There is no other food that has an effect on the speed of taming herbivores. However, their preferred type of Berries and Advanced Crops will be more effective at taming them.

Do not feed them Stimberries, because that will decrease their torpidity and make them wake up sooner.

To tame other creatures:

Kibble works the same as with carnivores and herbivores.

The scorpion, spider, dung beetle, arthropluera, and vulture will be tamed faster if you feed them Spoiled Meat.

Taming Tips from Joebon

Hints

If you want an easier and safer way to tame some dinosaurs you can get some breeds of birds to pick up the dinosaur and fly him into a container.

How to Build the Container

Find a flat piece of land, put 5x5 foundations and on the bottom layer include windows and 2 more layers of normal walls, above that you need a dinosaur gateway and a normal door for entraces, leave the roof open so you can drop the dinosaur of your choice inside.

Some birds can carry bigger dinosaurs than others but hte ones that can carry better things are usually harder to tame and in a hard area the easiest bird to take is the Ptranadon bu it can't carry much, but is efficient and can help you tame an Argentias which is a lot better and can carry a lot more dinosaurs.

To knock out a dinosaur they have a torpor bar that you have to lower to knock out and tame the dinosaur, but some are a poassive tame which you just hand feed them to get the torpor lower, you either hit it with a blunt weapon or shoot it with a tranquilizer of some sort. Most ranges weapons have ammnuition such as a tranq dark and a tranq arrow, some have higher torpor effects which means the dinosaur will get knocked out easier.
