If you win the first five Grand Prix Cups then you will unlock Avatar as a character in Grand Prix mode.

If you win the five Mirror Grand Prix Cups then you will unlock Dr. Eggman as a character in Grand Prix mode.

If you win all 5 standard Grand Prix Cups, you will unlock the Mirrored Grand Prix Cups.

If you win all 5 Mirrored Grand Prix Cups, you will unlock Expert Difficulty.

• AGES - In World Tour Mode: Superstar Showdown, you must win Ranger Rush (Sprint). Then you can purchase this character for 165 stars.
• Alex Kidd - This character was automatically unlocked on December 25, 2012. Set your WiiU system date to December 25 to unlock this character.
• Amigo - In World Tour Mode: Sunshine Coast, you must win Studio Scrapes (Versus). Then you can purchase this character for 8 stars.
• Danica Patrick - In World Tour Mode: Frozen Valley, you must win Pirate Plunder (Race). Then you can purchase this character for 16 stars.
• Doctor Eggman - Win all five Mirrored Grand Prix cups.
• Gilius Thunderhead - In World Tour Mode: Moonlight Park, you must win Molten Mayhem (Ring Race). Then you can purchase this character for 120 stars.
• Gum - In World Tour Mode: Moonlight Park, you must win Jet Set Jaunt (Boost Challenge). Then you can purchase this character for 105 stars.
• Joe Musashi - In World Tour Mode: Twilight Engine, you must win Shinobi Showdown (Versus). Then you can purchase this character for 85 stars.
• Mii - Win all five standard Grand Prix cups.
• NiGHTS - In World Tour Mode: Scorching Skies, win Carrier Crisis (Sprint). Then you can purchase this character for 80 stars.
