Take your time

Hints

Disco Elysium has a ton of content that is almost impossible to experience in one playthrough, so taking your time and reading the content will be beneficial for you as you might never have the same content again. For example, it could take you quite some time to locate both of your shoes, and this is only the second mission. So the crux of the matter is to take your time because it is actually quite difficult to rush things and still make sense of the game. Taking your time is rewarded by the game for certain actions that are not particularly important or conversation pieces that you would not usually pursue. Keeping in mind that some actions require a certain day or time to perform, these appear with a clock next to their name, finding quests or investigations that take up your time would be best to perform while waiting for the right time to come. Keep in mind that time will only progress by doing certain actions or talking to people.

Logitech G explains why it is important to take your time.

Check out the body first

Hints

Doing an investigation will lead you down many paths, some of these can be dead ends and smaller details. How do you prevent yourself from landing up in those situations all the time? The best way to get the most important information is to investigate the body first, the bodies will generally have the best clues for you to investigate on. Use those clues to move onto the surrounding area and piece the clues together.

Get across that bridge

Hints

There is a bridge off to the South of where you start, crossing that bridge is impossible most of the time, which will peak any player's interest from the start. To get across this bridge, all you need to do is head on over to it on Wednesday morning and you will be granted access across it. On the other side, you will find a quaint little fishing village with things such as raw cash that is just lying around and a free place to crash every night. So making the trip across the bridge is definitely a must for any player.

Make sure to use your interface

Hints

Being an investigation game, Disco Elysium sometimes will not spell out your next steps for you. This can cause you to reach frustrating dead-ends with no place to go. At this point, the best solution is to use your interface, there are notes and tons of other information in your interface that will help you move forward with your investigation. Your journal keeps details on the quests that you currently have, they even offer tips on where to go and who to speak to, so if you are ever stuck, take some time to read the notes that your character has kept and it can more than likely dig you out of your standstill.

Make sure to hit that Tab Button

Hints

If you ever find yourself thinking that the room you are in is hiding something that you just cannot see, hit that Tab button. What the Tab button does in Disco Elysium is highlight the most interactable items, such as doors and money. This will help you see anything that you have missed in the room and even highlight some secret things that you had no idea were sitting in the room right in front of you. So making use of that Tab button can help you find the differences between items, a green outline means that you can interact with the object, white means the item is locked and a yellow outline means that the item requires some more investigation. Try using the Tab button as much as you can, this will help you find money and items that can be sold so that you don’t go broke buying all those nifty items at the shops.
