Much like any other game that entails fighting, Curse of the Dead Gods offers many weapons to choose from. Take some time to research and find out which weapons you will enjoy playing with. Here is a list of the categories of weapons, and some examples that are on offer:
Each of these classes offer many weapons to choose from, so take some time to test and find out which weapons suit your gameplay style the best.
Being thrown into a new environment can be a bit daunting for those who are new to these types of games. The best strategy is to explore as much as you can, and find those hidden rooms and treasures that you might have missed. Exploring the surroundings can be very beneficial to you because you can find tons of treasure or new weapons which will make your exploration a lot easier, especially when you reach the late game.
Dungeon crawlers such as Curse of the Dead Gods have the mechanic of light vs darkness, some players are not afraid of the dark and do not mind when their torches get extinguished, this is not the best practice. Most rooms have traps and enemies hiding in the dark corners, not having light will make it a lot easier for them to get the jump on you, which can easily lead to your death. Fires, Torches, cobwebs, and enemies, are all sources of light that can help you in your quest. Make sure to take some time to light your way, fighting in the dark will cause you to take a lot more damage than normal.
Much like many other games, Curse of the Dead Gods uses stamina as a resource, learning how to use this resource can mean the difference between life and death. Stamina is used up by performing combo finishers, ranged attacks, two-handed attacks, and dodging, so spamming these might not be the best idea when you are caught in a bind. Perfectly timing your dodges will award you with one stamina point, so if you are low on stamina, make sure to time your dodges perfectly and you might just survive the fight.
Using the environment against your enemies is tactics 101, scout your surroundings before engaging in a fight and you can cut the difficulty of the fight in half. Leading enemies onto traps, or knocking them onto the traps, will cause the trap to trigger and damage your enemy. This can help you when fighting large amounts of opponents, or stronger opponents. Having a keen eye while fighting will make the combat that much easier, so make sure to keep an eye out for those flame or spike traps that lay in wait around every corner.
Curse of the Dead Gods adds another mechanic to the game, corruption. At the bottom of your screen, you have a purple corruption bar, you gain corruption by taking damage from specific attacks, offering your blood to a shrine, or just by entering a new room. Once the corruption bar reaches one hundred, you will be afflicted by a random curse. These curses can be a double-edged sword, for example, one curse makes enemies that you have killed explode, and this damages you as well as your enemies. So this can either help you clear a room faster or cause you to die unexpectedly, keep that in mind when looking for corruption.
When wandering through the world, you will come across crystal skulls, these are essential to your survival and progress. Dying in the game will cause you to lose your entire inventory, everything except your crystal skulls. What these skulls offer is a form of currency to purchase blessings that stick with you throughout the game, help you boost through runs, and make your life that little bit easier. SO take some time to farm up crystal skulls and spend them on the blessings that you need, before you die and lose all your hard-earned loot and weapons.
