All the Gym Leaders You’ll Encounter

Guias

As with any Pokémon game, as you progress, you’ll encounter different gyms where you’ll have to defeat various leaders. These are the leaders you’ll encounter and the Pokémon they’ll come at you with

Abi

When you arrive, Abi tells you she’s happy to fight you but won’t be going easy on you. She then summons her first Pokémon, a level 14 Dewpider, and the battle begins. Once you’ve defeated the Dewpider, she’ll send out a level 14 Anorith and, finally, a level 14 Vesiquen. Once you’ve defeated all her Pokémon, the Pokémon you fought with will be rewarded with various amounts of experience, and you’ll receive 840 Pokémon Dollars.

Aimi

When you greet Aimi, you’ll find her incredibly excited to fight you and ready to “hit the dance floor!” She’ll start by summoning a level 19 Marill, move onto a level 19 Mawile, and finish with a level 20 Wigglytuff. She'll challenge you to keep up when she brings out the last Pokémon. You'll gain a bonus if you hit every arrow that scrolls across the screen. Once you’ve defeated her Pokémon, you’ll receive 1200 Pokémon Dollars.

Kenn

When you walk into Kenn’s gym, he’ll start flirting with you, then remarks that he’s joking because if his girlfriend saw him, she’d kill him. He’ll summon a level 25 Pyukumuku, a level 25 Poliwhirl, and a level 26 Brionne. When he gets to his last Pokémon, he starts to freak out about what the “babes” will think if they have to save him. You’ll receive 1560 Pokémon Dollars for defeating his Pokémon.

Douglas

This white-haired gym leader despises end-of-the-year holidays and makes it very clear that he’s not in the mood to talk. He’ll summon a level 32 Piloswine, a level 32 Froslass, a level 32 Weavile, and a level 33 Cloyster. As he reaches his last Pokémon, he starts to freak out, as losing all his Pokémon seems to remind him of some past trauma that he doesn’t elaborate on.

Once you’ve defeated all his Pokémon, you’ll receive 1980 Pokémon Dollars.

Ciara

Ciara loves her Pokémon, finding them incredibly adorable. As you walk into her gym, you’ll find her talking affectionately to Pokémon before realizing she has company. She starts by acknowledging that she’s indebted to you for finding her “Puchi” and irritated with the state her friends left him in. She ignores your attempts to try and defend her friends, stating that “the important thing is that Puchi is here with me again,” before threatening you with her Dark-type Pokémon and their intimidating names.

She summons a level 37 Malamar named Cala-mal, a level 37 Bisharp called Cuchillin, and a level 38 Mightyena called Zarpon. Understandably, she starts to freak out about her Pokémon once she reaches her last one. Once you’ve defeated her, you’ll be rewarded with 2280 Pokémon Dollars.

Dhara

Dhara is excited to see what you’ve got, though slightly unimpressed that you kept her waiting. She’ll encourage you not to hold back as she wants to see what you and your Pokémon are capable of, even when dealing with the harsh desert sands.

She starts with a level 39 Hippowdon, then a level 39 Camerupt and level 39 Claydol, before finally finishing with a level 40 Flygon. As she reaches her last Pokémon, she begins to freak out and wonders if her years of experience are all for naught.

Upon defeat, she admits she underestimated you, and you’re rewarded with 2400 Pokémon Dollars.

Lawrence

Upon entering Lawrence’s gym, which doubles as a library, he’ll introduce himself after remarking that every book is in its place. As the battle begins, he asks that you try not to make too much noise in the library.

He’ll start by sending out a level 44 Wobbuffet, follow it with a level 45 Slowking, a level 44 Gallade, and a level 44 Espeon, before finishing off with a level 44 Beheeven. As he reaches his last Pokémon, it’s apparent that he’s not too pleased about the amount of noise this battle has caused.

Once you’ve defeated him and his Pokémon, you’ll be rewarded with 2700 Pokémon Dollars.

Bay

Bay is the final gym leader you’ll have to take on. He starts by thanking you for the help you provided him earlier in the game, assuring you that he isn’t usually lazy, and then begins the battle.

He’ll start with a level 47 Pidgeot, follow it with a level 47 Slaking, level 48 Bewear, and level 48 Snorlax before finishing with a level 47 Togekiss. Much like the previous gym trainers, he’s incredibly shocked by his loss, finding it hard to believe you could defeat him.

Once you beat him, you’ll receive 2800 Pokémon Dollars.
