Pharaoh: A New Era is an isometric city building game that takes you back in time to build your own ancient Egypt. At the start of every mission, you’ll need to build your city from scratch.

If you have built a city before, you’ll know that there are certain buildings and infrastructures that are non-negotiable. Planning and designing your city usually takes a few attempts before you get the hang of things.

Your population will have its own needs that must be met, housing and access to water are extremely important. Residents need houses to live in and with that comes the demand for a water supply, so you’ll need to build houses around a water well.

An important aspect to building your city is the aesthetics and surroundings, if you would like your houses to upgrade a level you’ll need to place a few gardens and beautification structures in the same vicinity.

Buildings and structures can have a negative or positive impact on the appearance of your housing suburbs. Workshops and factories will degrade your housing neighbourhood if they are built in the same area.

People also get hungry and will starve if there is an insufficient supply of food. You’ll need to establish a food supply chain with three farms, a granary, and a few hunter’s lodges. You should also build some bazaar’s along-side your houses.

When you think of your neighbourhood there’s always a firehouse or a crumbling building nearby. You’ll need to build some firehouses and architect posts near your houses to make sure your buildings are maintained or don’t catch a light.

Civilians in your city will also need a place to work, so that means that you will need to build several factories and workshops to keep the unemployment rates down. High unemployment rates in your city will have a negative impact.

Currency is important and you will initially start the game with some money, but it will soon run out. You will need to start earning some money before you run out, the easiest way to make money is by accessing gold on the map.

Most governments receive their income from taxes, once you have enough currency you’ll need to build a palace. The advantage of building a palace is the regular income from taxes that you will receive.

The income that you receive from taxes will not be sufficient to cover all the expenses you acquire, this means that you’ll need to start trading some of your resources with traders in exchange for gold.

Lastly, let's not forget about the gods in ancient Egypt, they play a significant role in the fertility of your farming lands. Build several temples and shrines to each of the five gods in the game, this will increase your prosperity rating.
