All Hotspot Locations
HintsDepending on the fish you’re trying to catch, you’ll want to find different hotspots. Each area you can fish has several hotspots, and you can find them by looking for splashes of water, bubbles, or fish jumping to the surface. A fish finder will also help you locate the hotspots.
Use the video guides below to help you find all of the hotspots in each location and catch the fish you need.
Longer Cast
HintsIf you set your reel sensitivity to “High,” you’ll have a longer cast.
All Legendary Fish Locations
HintsEach lake (including the DLC lake) has a Legendary Fish, which is essentially a boss-type fish for you to catch as a challenge. Each Legendary Fish has a specific spot on the lake where it can be found, as well as its own unique name. You can only catch each of the Legendary Fish once, as they will no longer be in the water once you’ve caught them.
When you cast your line in the right spot, special music will briefly play, and there is also an audio indication when the fish is on the line. You should use a maxed out rod to catch Legendary fish, as well as a powerful line and a lure that attracts the specific type of fish.
Lake Minnetonka – Legendary Walleye (Carl)
Lake Powell – Legendary Largemouth Bass (Bubba)
Rainy Lake – Legendary Northern Pike (Deepwater Yeti)
Lake Guntersville – Legendary Channel Catfish (Mudkitty)
Jenny Lake – Legendary Lake Trout (Queen Jenny)
Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees – Legendary Striped Bass (Nessie)
Lake Okeechobee – Legendary Tarpon (Moby)
Keep in mind that these fish can be challenging to catch, so you should plan to spend a long time battling with them (over 10 minutes, possibly closer to 20-30 minutes depending on the fish) before you can successfully reel them in.
If you’re having trouble finding the Legendary Fish, use the videos below to help pinpoint their locations. Note: the Legendary Lake Trout is located out a bit past the area shown in the video, and it has a very small area you have to hit in order to reach it. Use the video for the Jenny Lake fish to get the general area, and then pin it down from there by trying different spots.
Questions, Answers and Comments
So far I'm curious only about one question and it is: Is it possible, to catch some small fish on your lure, but NOT reel it out and instead use it as a live-bait to catch some of the bigger fishes? For example catch some Yellow Perch and keep it on the line, in order to catch some big Pike / Muskie / Catfish.
In real life pike-fishing such things are quite common, so I started wonder how realistic the game is. :)
Thank you in advance! All the best :)
