At the start of the game, you will only have a single area to explore, but as you progress through the game by completing main quests, you will unlock new areas. Some areas are unlocked through other missions and criteria as well.
Amber Island – Complete the mission Bridge to Amber Island.
WOW Industries – Complete the mission The Bassanio Lift.
Eufaula Desert – Complete the mission The Portia Bridge.
Ingall’s Mine – Complete the mission Rescue in Ingall’s Mine.
Western Plateau – Complete the mission Western Plateau.
Somber Marsh – Complete the mission Road to the Marsh.
Somber Marsh Abandoned Ruins – Complete the mission The Third Key.
Tree Farm – You will need to complete a series of quests in order to access the Tree Farm, starting with Fixing the Fence.
Factory – You must finish the quests to build Portia Harbor and then wait until the harbor is completed, after which you will receive a letter about the Factory.
You can find Data Discs while mining in the Abandoned Ruins. Data Discs can then be traded with other characters, either to the Church Store in exchange for items related to farming (including seeds) or to the Research Center in exchange for blueprints for more tools.
Trading Data Discs at the Research Center will give you blueprints for the following tools, although some also require you to either have a search Baseline Research level or a quest that requires the tool in question:
So far I have struggled with the following glitches:
While doing hazardous ruins, mobs have glitched into the ceiling making it impossible to hit them thus halting progress
Items have disappeared
Farm animals have randomly disappeared never to be seen again from the barn/shed.
So far the game is fun if not annoying!
You can sometimes find a bonfire with a sword stuck in it. Interacting with the bonfire will heal you. This is a reference to the Dark Souls series.
At 3:00 in-game, you will fall asleep and wake up rested in your home. Keep an eye on the time if you’re trying to get something done so you aren’t interrupted for sleep in the middle of it.
The condition of your house determines how much stamina resting there recovers. Therefore, you’ll want to repair your house as quickly as possible to get the maximum benefit.
Adding furniture to your house also boosts your stats, with the boosted stat differing based on the type of furniture you add. There is a maximum boost for each stat.
You have limited inventory space, but you can buy more inventory slots. Expand your inventory so you can carry more items with you.
Early on, you should prioritize your Gather skill tree, because you’ll be doing gathering right away. Gathering items also gives you experience, allowing you to get more skills. Focus on the Gather skills and then move on to the others once gathering is going well.
You should have multiple workstations so you can make multiple things at the same time.
Merchants will show you the current market condition, which you should use to determine when to sell items. If you sell an item when the Market Price percentage is higher than 100%, you’ll make a nice profit, whereas you’ll lose out if you sell it when the Market Price is lower than 100%.
Commissions have time limits. If you accept a commission but can’t complete it in time, you’ll lose relationship points with the NPC behind the commission as well as reputation points. Always make sure you check the time limit before you accept a commission.
In the Abandoned Ruins, you can sometimes find video tape recordings. These can be played on a Television relic if you have one placed on the Television Stand. The videos cover a variety of topics and shout-outs.
Note: The Strange Video series has been removed from newer versions of the game. If you already had a copy of one of them, it has bene replaced with Marco’s Tale 1, 2, or 3, corresponding to which Strange Video you had.
To save your game, you must sleep. This is currently the only way to save your progress.
