Play the tutorial

Hints

It goes without saying. When starting to play a new game, spend a few minutes playing the game's tutorial to get familiar with the game's mechanics, controls, movements, and combos.

Find a “Main” character to play

Hints

Every player has their own play style, and thus you need to find a character that will suit your play style. There are 11 different characters to choose from in Granblue Fantasy versus, which each have their own unique skill set and will depend on your play style and which one you chooses to play with.  

The base game characters are:

  • Gran
  • Katalina
  • Charlotta
  • Lancelot
  • Percival
  • Ferry
  • Lowain
  • Ladiva
  • Metera
  • Zeta
  • Vaseraga

Gran and Kataline are recommended for new players to start playing until they are comfortable with; the game, mechanics, and style.

Complete the skill practice and Combo practice

Hints

Once you have decided on a character to play as it is then recommended that you go play through the characters skill practice and Combo practice modes. This will future help you with your play style and learn the best combos for your style. 

Skill practice and Combo practice can be done through free training; however, it is easier to learn the Skill and Combo sets through the dedicated practice sections, and as a bonus, you will be graded on skill and combos for the character to see how well you can do the skills and combos.

Cheat Engine

Cheats

The trainer provides cheats such as:

  •  Infinite Health
  • One Hit Kills
  • Unlimited Gauge
  • No Gauge For Enemy
  • No Skills Cooldown
  • Freeze Timer

Granblue fantasy does not have an integrated cheat system. It is, however, possible to download and install a cheat engine or trainer to; increase damage, infinite health, no skills cooldown, and many other cheats. 

It is recommended that you read up on specified cheat engines as it may interfere with online multiplayer gaming due to the integrated Anti-cheat used in the game platform. The trainer provided by Cheat Happens uses Aurora Software.

Arcade mode and Match-Up’s

Once you have decided on the character and have nailed the Skills and Combos perfectly it is time to test the skills in the Arcade mode of the game and by playing Match-ups. 

Arcade mode will allow you to choose the difficulty at the end of each match. This is helpful in progressing your skill level in the game and leveling up.  Similarly, playing match-ups and achieving the goals will allow you to gain the best way to play the game.

Time to go online

Hints

Now that you have played the tutorial, chosen the character, Learned the skills and combos, and practiced in arcade mode, it is time to play online against other real players. Playing the CPU’s in the arcade mode is relatively easy, even on the hardest level. Now it is time that you test your skills, and yes it may take time but learn from lost matches.

Auguste Isles stage

In the Auguste Isles stage, Lunalu only pays attention to the fight if there are two guys fighting each other. 

Lancelot

Easter Eggs

In his regular victory animation, Lancelot stretches out his hand and smiles at his defeated opponent. However, when he wins a battle against Beezebub; Lancelot has a very serious look instead.

Narmaya

Easter Eggs

In her intro animations, Narmaya has a very serious expression when she fights her opponents... Except in  Gran/Djeeta's case, where she gets overjoyed at the sight of them.

Colours 5-8

Unlockables

Colour 5 can be unlocked by completing the arcade game mode with each character. 

At the completion of the RPG game mode, colours 6-8 are unlocked. This makes them available in all game modes and can be purchased from the shop. Downloading a DLC will provide more RPG levels and more colours to be unlocked. 

Some basic tips for fighting online

Hints

Below is a list of useful tips for the game.

  • Overheads beat throws
  • Sweeps and EX moves lead to a hard knockdown
  • Anti-airs deal more damage
  • You are able to roll or evade after a dash
  • When doing a higher combo, easy inputs have a lower damage
  • Instead of blocking projectiles, dodge them 
  • If mashing for reversals, use easy inputs
  • When jumping in, avoid being hit by anti-air

Vyrn Weapon Skins

Unlockables

The weapon skin can be unlocked by completing a hidden bonus mission in the RPG gameplay mode. The skin can be unlocked by;

  • Gran – Achieve 100% damage cut 3 times. This requires both characters to use a Phalanx support skill.
  • Katalina – Equip any other Vyrn weapon in your grid and then beat any Katalina battle.
  • Percival – Sell any 4 SSR rank weapons.
  • Lancelot – Currently unknown but seems to have something to do with facing Katalina with Lancelot on hard mode a certain number of times.
  • Lowain – Beat Yggdrasil boss solo as Lowain.
  • Narmaya – Pause the game for 60 seconds straight during RPG mode.Ladiva – Taunt 3 times as Ladiva.
  • Metera – Skip 20 cutscenes manually.
  • Charlotta – Listen to the full dialogue while entering the shop menu ten times.
  • Zeta – Beat Proto Bahamut 3 times as Zeta.
  • Vaseraga – Clear 5 non-tutorial missions with no partner or support skills.
  • Beelzebub – Fight the final boss with Beelzebub on your team.
  • Ferry – Get a game over 5 times in RPG mode.

Weapon Skins 3-7

Unlockables

Each playable character in the game has got 5 weapon skins that can be unlocked by playing the RPG game mode. However, there are other ways to unlock weapon skins, such as;

  • Weapon skin 3 – Random drop from a character’s Hard mode raid.
  • Weapon skin 4 – Awarded as an A-rank reward in a character’s Normal mode raid.
  • Weapon skin  5 –  Awarded for beating a character’s Hard mode raid without using any support skills.
  • Weapon skin 6 – Awarded for completing specific story battles.
  • Weapon skin 7 – Can only be obtained through Crafting.

 Crafting materials include

  • A character medal that drops in a character’s Hard mode raid. 
  • Clearing the raid in 60 seconds will provide all the crafting materials needed for the skin can only work once. 
  • The player can also obtain character medals on the last 20 floors of Babyl.

Beelzebub

Unlockables

The game's final boss is unlockable by simply completing the RPG game mode. It can also be unlocked by purchasing the character. 

Beelzebub’s Weapon Skins

The four weapon skins for Beelzebub need different materials to any other In-game character. These materials can be found by doing the following;

  • Beelzebub Character Medals – You can obtain ten of them as a one-time clear reward for completing Beelzebub’s free quest in Hard Mode in under 60 seconds. Otherwise, they drop randomly from the final boss of RPG game mode on hard.
  • True Fire Anima – Drop from the Colossus Raid and from Colossus fights in Babyl.
  • True Water Anima – Drop from the Ares raid and from Ares fights in Babyl.
  • Primaeval Horns – Drop from any hard mode Bahamut fight or by fighting Bahamut on floors 75/99 in Babyl.
