You will unlock new skills as you complete certain tasks and earn Neuronal energy. Different parts of the Neuronal chart (skill tree) will be progressed as you focus on those skills. For example, the more you craft, the more pieces of the crafting skill tree you’ll unlock.
Sometimes skills are unlocked in the form of a random genetic mutation. However, if the clan member with that mutation dies before they breed or before you advance to the next generation, it will not be unlocked.
Always keep an eye on your hunger and thirst. Make sure you eat and drink right away when you wake up, and then keep an eye on these as you explore so you don’t let your levels get down too low.
Be sure to stand up so you can increase mobility for your clan.
Information is important. Always scan new areas and investigate any items you don’t already have information about. Scanning will also give you more Neuronal energy.
Another thing that gives you more Neuronal energy is having a child with you. Once you’ve had children, which you should to expand your clan and start your legacy, take a child with you to help with whatever you’re doing.
Having children also reinforces the Neuronal upgrades, which is what is meant by the warning that you will have to unlock any traits not reinforced. Having children is what reinforces them.
There are a lot of audio cues, to listen carefully to best know when and how to react. For example, when holding down a button for any given task, there will be a sharp sound right ahead of when you should release it. You might consider playing with headphones to get the best audio experience.
Collect as many resources as possible, not only to make sure you have enough of what you need, but also because having a large number of resources can lead to new crafting options.
If you get a helpful genetic mutation in one of your clan members, advance to the next generation so you can keep it (without risking that clan member dying before they have a chance to pass it on). Then start your evolution so you can unlock the mutation for the clan.
To get the All You Can Eat trophy/achievement, you will need to become able to eat food from all of the major food categories in the game. You will need to get the Nutrient Absorption gene mutation first, which will unlock the paths for each of the four types of food: mushrooms, eggs, fish, and mammals. Some of these paths will require additional mutations in order for you to progress through them all, but your major priority will be to eat these different types of food until you unlock everything necessary.
