When knocked to the ground, as the enemy prepares to make the killing blow on you, hold the left thumb stick to either side or towards the screen and repeatedly press the evade button (X on PS4) you will get up and roll out of the way. You can also enter focus mode (R2 on PS4) and Denial will stand back up, slowing time and returning health over time.
