The Morphball tech upgrade functions similarly to Samus’s Morph Ball in the Metroid series, including the ability to drop bombs.

The Ocarina item bears a strong resemblance to the ocarina from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Its description, which tells you to make sure you have time to practice, is also a nod to Ocarina of Time.

The three colored flashlights are references to the Green Lantern comic book series. The green flashlight’s description includes “A mighty glow” in reference to green energy representing might, the red flashlight’s description says “Everything looks hot and filled with rage” in reference to red energy representing rage, and the yellow flashlight’s description says “Don’t be afraid” in reference to yellow energy drawing on fear.

Some of the Ape NPCs say they used to be adventurers like you, a reference to the famous “arrow in the knee” line in Skyrim.

“Big Ape” is a play on “Big Brother” from the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Using wood to build shafts as you dig underground will provide you with a safe way to quickly return to the surface.

Ropes are also useful, and you can swing while hanging onto a rope.

Get a Lantern Stick or mining helmet so you’ll have light while mining.

Hunting spears are useful both as a weapon and for getting meat.

Wheat won’t go bad until you process it, so you can save up lots of wheat early on in the game without needing to use it right away.

Cooked food is much more effective than raw food. An early place you can cook food is at the first outpost.

Cooking food will also reset how long it will take until it goes bad.

To travel to other planets, you must sit in the captain’s chair and then select the magnifying glass. This will let you visit other planets.

If you loot too many things (to the point of taking things apart) while on other planets, the people there will turn hostile.
