Instead of waiting, attack after you have the Barracks and 18 soldiers, so you can start getting resources right away.

Don’t forget to research once you have enough resources. Research can be done at the same time as an upgrade.

Upgrade the Command Bunker and factories early on.

Don’t fortify your buildings until after you’ve upgraded them to the max, researched new troops, and cleared the land.
