The second most important piece Indices

Everyone knows that the best piece in Tetris is the long l-shaped piece, but if you ask anyone which is the second most important piece, no one will be able to answer you. The answer to that question is the T-spin piece, the piece that looks like a small t. This piece is one of the most versatile pieces in the game, so learning how to use it effectively will improve your level of play by a whole lot. The best way to use it is to try to make a space where you can slot this little piece in, it helps make your stack a lot more organized. Setting up a spot for a T-spin can be a little bit difficult, but practicing how to do it will make sure that you stay one step ahead of your opponent.

Plan your stacking method Indices

When playing Tetris, most new players tend to stack their bricks wherever they can, this method is not the best for the long game, however. In Tetris.IO, the best strategy is to stack all your bricks on one side of the board and leave just one slot open on the other side, this spot is to put the long piece in whenever you are able to place one. Doing this will help you in the long run and will allow you to get ahead of the opponent that you are playing against.

25Pi25 shows us the best way to stack our pieces.

Avoid creating dependencies Indices

One of the quickest ways to end up losing the game is by creating what is known as “Dependencies”. A Dependency is when you create a space that can only be filled by a certain type of brick. Doing this will end up slowing your game down substantially and causing difficulties in placing pieces. Avoid dependencies as much as you can, so consider where you are placing your pieces and plan them out to the best of your ability.

25Pi25 explains why dependencies are bad.

Experiment with openers Indices

Openers are set moves that you can learn that will help you send your opponent garbage early on in the game. Openers can really help out your early game and put your opponent on the back foot from the get-go. The best way to have the power seat of your game is to start with a strong opener, but do not let the opener be your only focus, doing this will cause you to slow down your gameplay and end up on the backfoot yourself. Study up on some openers and practice them as much as possible, so that you can recognize the best time to implement them when starting a game. There are many different openers to use, so make sure that you study up on them.

Attacks per Minute and Pieces Per Second Indices

If you were to look at your profile, you will notice that there are two stats on display, APM and PPS. APM stands for Attacks Per Minute, and PPS stands for Pieces Per Second. Attacks per minute are how many lines you send to your opponent per minute and your Pieces Per Second is how many pieces you are placing per second. One of the best ways to improve your skill is to focus on improving these two stats. Set a goal for yourself and strive to reach your goal with these two stats. Make sure that you are not setting an unrealistic goal, make it achievable. Once you reach that goal, make another one, strive for the best, and watch your skill level increase substantially.

25Pi25 explains what APM and PPS are.

Four is the Magic Number Indices

When trying to complete lines, you are wanting to try and focus on completing four lines at one time. If you were to complete up to three lines, you will only send two lines to your opponent, and although this is good, it is not the best. Completing four lines at once will send four lines to your opponent, giving you the advantage a lot quicker than before. Make sure that you are focusing on filling up four lines before completing them so that when you place your long piece in the space you have made on the sides, it sends maximum devastation to your opponent.

25Pi25 explains why you should focus on sending four lines.

Up stacking versus Downstacking Indices

Learning the difference between these two can help you achieve success in the long run. Up stacking is when you are making large, tall piles of pieces before completing lines, this can help you complete a larger set of lines at a time when used properly. Downstacking is when you are keeping your pile of pieces short and small, this gains you access to the garbage at the bottom of your screen. Knowing when to use which type of stacking will improve your game a lot. The best way to know which one to use is to look at your garbage, when there is a large amount of garbage, down stacking is your best bet. On the other hand, when you have a small amount of garbage, up stacking is the way to go.

25Pi25 shows us the difference between up stacking and downstacking.

Learn how to use downstacking to your advantage Indices

One of the more important things to learn is down stacking. Downstacking is when you stack your pieces in such a way that it allows you to access the garbage at the bottom of your screen. Doing this will allow you to complete the garbage and send it right back to your opponent. Learning how to do down stacking will allow you to make your screen more comfortable and not be so close to the lose point, make sure that you use it at the right time, otherwise you might just end up losing the battle while trying to be too organized.

25Pi25 tells us the use of Downstacking.
