Detaining

Hints

When detaining someone, a police officer may observe suspicious behavior, such as nervousness or indications of the use of illegal substances. This information is displayed as intuition feedback text and can be used to conduct further questioning. It is important to use a flashlight during the night to observe these signs.

When a person is being detained, they are required to provide identification when asked. Refusing to do so is not allowed.

In Brighton, police officers can issue tickets without first detaining the person, and there will be no negative consequences. However, if the person is detained first, the police officer will earn additional shift points as a reward.

Flashlight

Hints

It is essential to have a flashlight during nighttime, as it allows you to see license plates and other signs. You can activate it using a right-click with a mouse or LT on a gamepad.

Conduct Points

Hints

In the game options, some reasons for losing conduct points can be disabled, making the game more relaxed. However, police brutality will always result in punishment.

Surrendering

Hints

If a suspect surrenders, shooting is not allowed. You can aim at them with a ranged stun gun, but if they raise their arms, you must not shoot.

Asking for Identification

Hints

When asking for identification, not every ID is a valid driver’s license. Always compare the person’s appearance to the photo on the ID, and be aware that IDs may be stolen.

Giving a Ticket or Verbal Warning

Hints

Police officers can hand out tickets or give verbal warnings without detaining the person first, but detaining them will result in extra shift points.

Parking Regulations

Hints

Cars with broken windshields do not breach parking regulations and cannot be ticketed or towed.

Pulling Over Cars

Hints

Drivers are released from detention when police officers move away from the pulled-over car, so make sure to stay close.

Drug Dealers:

Hints

Drug dealers operate in specific areas like back alleys, parks, and isolated locations and are more active at night. If they are aware of an officer's presence, they will not be active, so keep your distance and turn off the flashlight.

This video shows just how arresting a drug dealer can be done

Evidence

Hints

Some evidence can only be seen at night with the flashlight turned on.

Traffic Violations

Hints

During a traffic stop, officers may observe signs of other law violations. You can toggle the casual mode for many traffic violations in the game menu.

Police Baton

Hints

Citizens will still follow the laws of Brighton, so make sure there is a proper parking spot for them. When you use the baton, a text message will appear, informing you whether or not the driver noticed you.

Wanted Suspects

Hints

To check if a person is a wanted suspect, focus on them. Wanted suspects are always on foot and never drive. Some calls for finding wanted suspects have more hints than others, and when approaching a wanted suspect, they may flee.

Ranged Stun Gun

Hints

To have the stun gun readily available, press 2 on the keyboard or RB on the gamepad instead of browsing the Tool Wheel Menu.

Handcuffing

Hints

Police are always permitted to search an individual who has been lawfully detained as well as their vehicle. Detention is not required before an arrest.

Guns.

Hints

You can reload your gun from the patrol car's trunk.
