How to Improve Your Gameplay

Hinweise

Play Solo

As much fun as it is to run around taking out bad guys and causing chaos with your friends, the Legendary Campaign is a lot easier to play on your own. If you play in multiplayer, the game will adjust its difficulty to account for the fact that you have help, meaning co-op isn't nearly as fun as it should be.

It's a bit of a challenge because while it's possible to play on your own, the game has been designed to play with a fire team, and most activities are a three-person gig (some can even go as high as six players).

When Playing with Friends, Communication is Key

The best way to play co-op is on the mic with your fire team. Each Guardian is responsible for keeping track of a different role, and if the rest of the team has no idea what one player is doing, you're doomed to fail.

It doesn't help that each player only has one revive token, and if no one alive has one, it will mean that your fire team has failed, and you'll need to start over. Keep track of your team, remember who's doing what, and ensure you know who has revive tokens and who doesn't.

Practice with the New Subclass

The game introduced Strand, a new subclass for Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters. Unfortunately, the campaign doesn't introduce it very well. Guardians are empowered by Strand here and there during the campaign, meaning you only get a little time with it before it's taken away from you again. Charge times and aspects also behave differently throughout the campaign, so it's pretty inconsistent.

Strand is necessary for one of the final boss fights, meaning players have to understand how to use it properly. Bearing this in mind, take your time with the sections in which you've been empowered by Strand. Take your time and learn as much about the mechanics as you can before your new powers are taken away from you again.

Never Stay in One Place

Moving around constantly is a crucial aspect of the game, especially with the new hard-hitting Tormentors and the massive emphasis on not dying while taking ridiculous amounts of damage. While you have a grapple ability that allows you to easily swing out of deadly situations while empowered by Strand, the only way to stay alive otherwise is by dodging and weaving between enemy attacks as fast as possible.

You should focus on improving your mobility as much as possible through armor stats and modifiers. The faster you are, the easier it will be to avoid enemy attacks.

Improve Your Resilence as Much as Possible

Sometimes, you're not going to be able to move out of range of an attack quickly enough. When this happens, you will want to make sure you can take the hit. You can do this by increasing your resilience.

Having a high resilience is always a good idea, but it's a particularly good idea for a game like this, where the enemies will always be more powerful than the player. Make sure your Guardian can brace for impact.

Play with Stasis Until You Can Get Your Hands on Strand

Players will only unlock Strand once they've completed the main campaign, so you'll want to pick a subclass that can hold its own while you're not empowered by Strand. Stasis is that subclass.

Thanks to its ability to freeze enemies, Stasis is a great crowd-control subclass, which is perfect for this game as you are constantly getting swarmed by enemies, and being able to freeze them means you'll have a decent amount of breathing room. The Stasis weapons are also quite effective.

Make Use of Witherhoard and Osteo Striga

The game has a seemingly endless number of weapons, but the Witherhoard and Osteo Striga are the two most powerful. Both create a lingering effect that damages enemies over time and helps control their numbers.

  • Osteo Striga: A submachine gun that has tracking bullets that will apply a lingering toxin to its targets.
  • Witherhoard: A grenade launcher that creates a lingering blight that damages enemies that walk into it.

If both of these weapons are already on your fire team, the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher is not a bad third option, as it can knock a devastating amount of health off enemies.

Level Up Your Gear Constantly

You level up quite quickly throughout the main campaign, and many players prefer to put on new gear and wait until they hit "soft cap" before infusing items into their main gear. This strategy keeps players from getting their hands on a whole lot of mods.

Whenever you reach a checkpoint, you gain access to at least two upgrade mods and pieces of gear that are more powerful than what you have on. It's better to keep leveling up your gear as you go to maintain a high light level while still using your favorite weapons and modded armor.

Use the Witherhoard and Cheese Spots to Avoid Being Taken Out by the Wall in the Headlong Mission

Before the final boss fight against Calus, you'll have to take on the Headlong mission, the second most difficult mission in the game. During this quest, you'll be forced to put your skills with the Strand subclass to the test.

At the very end of the mission, players will find themselves trapped in a room with a rotating wall that will kill them upon impact, a wave on endless Vex, including Minotaurs, sniper Hobgoblins, and Wyverns. Once you've endured numerous waves of Vex, you will still have to kill a boss, all the while dodging the rotating walls.

The easiest way to take on this mission is:

  1. Take out the snipers.
  2. Spam Witherhoard rounds EVERYWHERE
  3. Keep Moving

There are a few cheese spots in the room, and thankfully, there's a corner near the right back side of the map that you can squeeze into that'll keep you protected from the wall.

If You Are Playing Co-Op, Ignore Strand in the Headlong Quest

Before the final boss in the Headlong quest, you must pick up Strand to advance, as it unlocks a simple jumping puzzle. While you have no choice but to pick it up and grapple through the puzzle if you're playing solo, there's no need to collect it when playing co-op.

The puzzle is easily done without Strand, and only one player needs to pick it up for the puzzle to unlock, so have a member of your team pick it up before simply jumping your way to victory.

Use the Hunter Strand, the Well of Radiance Warlock, and Stasis for the Headlong Mission

If you're taking on the Headlong Mission in a co-op party of three, then these are three Guardians you absolutely need to have on your team.

  • Hunter Strand: If you have a Hunter on your team, once you get to the jump puzzle, they should pick up Strand and stick with it into the boss fight, as they will become one of the most powerful assets on the team. Hunters are already quite fast. Combine that with the Strand's grapple, and they can zip around the room, clearing snipers with ease.
  • Well of Radiance Warlock: When standing in the Warlock's well, the team can take a hit from the well and other enemies without dying, making standing in one place for the duration of the well and fighting far more doable.
  • Stasis: Stasis is already perfect for crowd control thanks to its freeze ability, but combine it with the Warlock's well, and you've got a lethal combo capable of taking on the wall.

The Terminal Overload Chest Exploit

Fehler

Two chests will spawn near the final boss when you complete a terminal Overload run. You can open one for free, while the other requires an overload key. You can open the first one three times if you're fast about it.

Grab it, hop on your sparrow, rush to the next zone, and wait for the name of the nearby area to appear on your screen. Once it does, you can backtrack, and the chest will be full again, meaning you'll get some Legendary engrams and extra Neomuna reputation for free.

Unlockable Exotic Weapons

Freischaltbar

Final Warning

When you hold down the trigger of this Kinetic slot Sidearm, it marks targets within range and loads a burst of bullets. When hip firing, projectiles track aggressively toward the marked targets.

You'll unlock this weapon once you complete the Final Strand Quest, which you can access by unlocking all the Strand shards.

Deterministic Chaos

Every fourth bullet from this Void machine gun becomes a heavy projectile that weakens targets on impact.

You'll unlock Deterministic Chaos once you've completed the Unfinished Business quest.

Winterbite

This Exotic Stasis Glaive fires a large ball of energy that locks onto nearby targets and freezes them.

You need to beat the main campaign before starting the quest line that will unlock this weapon.
