Wondering what happened to the Xbox Live Marketplace? Well it’s just been re-branded by Microsoft to the “Xbox Games Store” and you can check out the new logo just by visiting Xbox.com.

Microsoft has obviously decided to make the change well ahead of the launch of the Xbox One in November later this year, and perhaps get the public more accustomed to the new name. As we’ve previously mentioned, the move also comes as Microsoft phases out MS points in favor of your local currency for purchases on the Xbox Live Marketplace Xbox Games Store.

Speaking to Joystiq, a Microsoft spokesperson had the following to say:

That’s right, [Xbox Live Marketplace] is now called the Xbox Games Store, and will sit alongside the Xbox Music Store and Xbox Video Store. This is to make it easier for consumers to find content both on Xbox 360 today and Xbox One when it launches in November.

Makes sense to us!
