Wolfenstein: The New Order releases in just a couple of days, on May 20, and there’s a new trailer to celebrate its impending launch. “House of the Rising Sun” plays during this trailer–in German. Enjoy!
With sections that highlight the atmosphere, story, and gameplay, this is a strong trailer to launch with. The Wolfenstein trailers have used an interesting assortment of songs, too, and we enjoyed this little twist. And of course, it makes even more sense in the context of the game’s alternate timeline, where the Nazis won World War II.the new order, trailer, wolfenstein

We’re less than a week away from the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order. Like many games, there will be a patch for you to download on the first day. We aren’t entirely sure what it contains, but it’s quite sizeable for a patch. It comes in at 5 GB for the PS4 and 7.3 GB for the Xbox One.
The game itself requires approximately 47 GB for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
So, what can we expect from the gameplay? Well, Creative Director Jens Matthies shed more light on the multiple gameplay styles in a recent interview with Examiner, where he said most situations will allow you to go into combat “stealthily, tactically or full on guns blazing mayhem style (or any combination of the three).”
He also mentioned in the same interview that you can dual wield weapons and destroy tons of stuff in the environment (though we suspect you can’t be destructive if you’re playing it the stealthy way).
And the story? Trailers have emphasized the dark atmosphere (this is an alternate timeline in which the Nazis won World War II, after all), and we know it has choices and alternate endings, but Matthies also discussed the game’s portrayal of the villains, saying they are “truly representative of Nazi ideology” and have “an air of authenticity.” A high claim, which some fans may disagree with, but it only makes us more excited for this game.

We’re just over a week away from May 20 and the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order. With the release so close, Creative Director Jens Matthies took to Reddit to answer questions posed by fans and reveal some great pieces of information.
If you’ve been wondering about the frame rate and resolution of Wolfenstein, we now know it will run at 60 fps and 1080p, regardless of platform, with “with minimal visual disparity.” Impressive, especially considering the game is coming out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Replay value is another question that came up. According to Matthies, it definitely has a lot of replay value, to the point where you might want to play through twice. You’ll make a major choice early on in the story that determines which path the game will take, and “it changes the vibe of the story to a degree and alters the gameplay somewhat.” That’s pretty cool. We knew from the trailers that The New Order would have options, but we didn’t expect a branching storyline to that degree.
When asked about non-combat sections, he said there are some of those in the game, and although the game is focused on action, it can be considered “more as an action adventure than a straight up shooter.”
Wolfenstein: The New Order sounds like it could be a really cool game, so we were glad to learn that there’s a chance it could have a sequel, if it’s successful. What do you think?Tags: replay value, sequel, the new order, wolfenstein

The release of Wolfenstein: The New Order is less than a month away. The shooter launches on May 20 for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. Although the game is a standard FPS, the latest trailer offers multiple options on how to tackle situations, as it shows off “Stealth vs. Mayhem.”
Seeing a level handled in two such very different ways suggests the game will have variability and a good deal of replay value, although a majority of Wolfenstein fans seem to already be leaning toward the “mayhem” side of things. Bethesda has been showing off a lot of Wolfenstein lately, and there’s still one more live stream planned before the game’s launch.

If you missed the live stream, you can check out Bethesda’s Twitch archives, or watch the video embedded below.
So, assuming you’ve watched both videos, you’ve now seen about an hour of in-game Wolfenstein footage. What do you think? If you still aren’t sure if you want to pick up the game on May 20 or not, one more live stream is planned for May 19. Check it out, and be sure to let us know your thoughts.
On the other hand, if you’ve already convinced this is a game for you, we want to let you know that Best Buy is giving out $20 in reward certificates to anyone who preorders, in addition to access to the Doom beta, which all preorders get.Tags: gameplay, preorder bonus, the new order, video, wolfenstein

The closer we get to May 20 and the release of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the more we get to see. Today, we have new screenshots and some gameplay footage to share.
The character pictured above is Caroline Becker, who remains a strong part of the resistance despite being confined to a wheelchair. She is a returning character from 2009’s Wolfenstein, and we’re interested to see the sort of role she’ll play.
In addition to releasing new screenshots, Bethesda has also decided to share gameplay footage via live streams. The first stream lasts just over half an hour and shows the first part of an early mission. Check out the video below, or go to Bethesda’s Twitch page to find it archived.
A second live stream will be coming on April 24, and 2 PM EST. What do you think of what you’ve seen so far?Tags: gameplay, the new order, video, wolfenstein

All right, Wolfenstein fans! If you’ve been looking forward to the newest game in the series, we finally know when you’ll be able to play it. Wolfenstein: The New Order will release worldwide on May 20, for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. (And don’t forget that preorders come with a beta for the next Doom game.)
Also, the limited Panzerhund Edition was announced today, but before you run out to buy it from Bethesda’s store, make sure you know what it contains. It costs $100 and comes with a folder containing 11 documents, an 8-inch articulated Panzerhund statue, a steel book case, 14 postcards, 3 patches, and a set of dog tags, all within a special footlocker. The one thing it doesn’t include is the game itself.
There will only be 5,000 copies of the Panzerhund set, each of which is numbered.
A collector’s edition that doesn’t actually include the game sounds kind of strange to us, and it actually raises the price to about $160 if you buy the game as well. Still, if you’re really interested in the game’s lore, at least the Panzerhund edition contains a lot of interesting stuff.
