Last month we learned that Games With Gold (the newer, Xbox equivalent of the free games given to subscribers of Sony’s PlayStation Plus) would finally be coming to the Xbox One. As with PS+, you’ll only be able to keep these games for as long as you’re a member of Xbox Live Gold, which is a change from the Xbox 360 version of the program.
Well, it’s June, and that means the first Games With Gold Xbox One games are now available. If you’re a Gold member, you can pick up Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for free now.
By the way, if you’re a Gold member without an Xbox One, you can still “purchase” the free games to register them to your account, so they’ll be there for you to download if and when you do get an Xbox One.
It’s great to see Games With Gold finally come to the new console. Are you interested in either or both of these games? What titles would you like see brought to the program in the future?Tags: games with gold, gold, halo, max curse of brotherhood, spartan assault, xbox one

Rumors are rampant about the next Halo game. Is it going to be Halo 5? Halo 2 Anniversary? Something else entirely? Microsoft is offering no official answers either way, but once again, a job opening at 343 Industries has caused additional speculation.
343 Industries needs a Software Development Engineer who has “recently shipped a AAA Xbox One title” and “will be able to support external partners.”
The person who takes this position will join “an incredible team to help drive the future of Halo.”
Not only is this job directly related to Halo, but the reference to “external partners” supports the rumors that Saber Interactive and Certain Affinity, who worked on Halo Anniversary, could be working on a Halo 2 Anniversary. On the other hand, it could be related to Halo: Spartan Assault, which was co-developed by Vanguard.
We’d be surprised if this was about Spartan Assault, although that title has cropped up a few times today. Its price was dropped to $9.99 on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and it was also announced to be on its way to Steam.
Whatever the case may be, we hope to learn more at E3 in a few months! Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below.Tags: halo, halo 2, price cut, rumors, spartan assault, xbox one

It wasn’t scheduled for release until December 24, however Halo: Spartan Assault is available for you to download right now on the Xbox One, just check out the Xbox Games Store on your console.
Halo: Spartan Assault is a top-down shooter already available on Windows PC and Windows 8 mobiles, and it is also scheduled to arrive on the Xbox 360 console some time next month. The game itself is set some time between the events that took place in each of Halo 3 and Halo 4 and follows the rise of Commander Sarah Palmer. You take on the role of either Palmer of a Spartan named Edward Davis in the game.
Spartan Assault has over 30 campaign missions as well as co-operative online multiplayer, so make sure you check it out. At just $14.99 it’s not going to break the bank either (although online play between Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles owners will not be possible).Tags: halo, spartan assault, xbox 360, xbox one
