If you have a PSN account and you haven’t heard about Sony’s Rewards Program, take a look. You might find it advantageous.
Like most rewards programs, the concept is simple. You perform tasks to earn points, which you can redeem for rewards. When you sign up with Sony Rewards, you can link it to your PSN account. Points can be redeemed for a variety of rewards, including gaming-relevant rewards like games, PS+ subscriptions, PSN codes, and more.
You can earn points by shopping at the PlayStation Store and at the Sony Store. There are also special offers in place for you to earn points at certain other retailers or by completing certain tasks, and the rewards program has additional incentives for using the PlayStation Card. Additionally, from now until March 3, there is a special sale in the PlayStation Store where you can earn 3x the usual amount of points.
Like any rewards program, you aren’t going to get rich doing this, but if you’re going to be shopping at the PlayStation Store anyway, why not get a little something back?Tags: points, program, psn, rewards, sony, store

If you have a PS4 and have never used Sony’s subscription service, PlayStation Plus, before, you can try it out for free with a 14-day trial. As the name suggests, a 14-day trial is meant to last 14 days. One anonymous user who began the trial, however, discovered that it was possible to extend his free subscription by 14 days, over and over again, without paying.
PS+ now recognizes him as a subscriber until the year 2035, and he has hundreds of emails confirming his numerous $0.00 “purchases” of 14-day subscription periods.
This user informed VG247.com about this glitch in this system, and he also provided screenshots to prove his story.
So far, Sony has declined to comment on the story.
We’d bet money Sony has either fixed this issue or is working on it now. What we’re really interested in finding out, however, is whether or not the user will be allowed to keep his free 21-year subscription. His honesty did bring it to Sony’s attention, after all.Tags: free, plus, ps+, psn

With the advent of the PlayStation 4 Sony announced that players would need a PS Plus membership in order to play online multiplayer games. Xbox 360 players had always needed an Xbox Live Gold subscription for online multiplayer, but the PS3’s multiplayer had previously been free. In the new generation of console gaming, both companies have placed online multiplayer behind their paid membership service.
However despite this, PS4 players will still be able to play The Elder Scrolls Online without paying for PS Plus. The Elder Scrolls Online is an upcoming MMO addition to the popular Elder Scrolls franchise, and it will require its own monthly subscription of $15. The PlayStation Blog confirmed that PS4 players will not need to have Plus for this game.
Xbox One players, on the other hand, will need to be members of Xbox Live Gold in addition to paying for the Elder Scrolls Online subscription.
Many PS4 players already have PS Plus memberships, but for those who don’t, this is welcome news. While this news has reinvigorated some arguments between Xbox and PlayStation fans, a great number of Elder Scrolls fans are more concerned about the subscription for the game itself.Tags: elder scrolls online, psn, xbox live

The very first person has hit level 100 on the Playstation Network.
User “Hakoom” has been playing Playstation games for 1,990 days (and counting) and finally hit the level cap just a few days ago. To reach that level he’s had to play 1,016 different games and has earned 30,857 Trophies.
That averages out to 15.5 Trophies earned per day and has left Hakoom with an average progress figure (within each game he’s played) of 83%. In terms of specific Trophies he’s earned, the number includes 611 Plats (Platinum), 2,617 Gold, 7,282 Silver and finally 20,347 Bronze.
If you want to get in touch with Hakoom and maybe pick his brain, then he posted some contact details over here at NeoGAF as well as answered a few questions that other posters wanted to know. Apparently he’s just a massive Sony fan and has been playing games ever since the Nintendo Gameboy was released!Tags: hakoom, psn, trophies

Scammers are beginning to appear on the Playstation Network as evidenced by the message screenshot you can see above. The grammar is extremely poor and the message itself barely makes sense, but essentially if you send the person your PSN email and password then it says you’ll be “rewarded” with $40 and the game of your choice…
While we don’t expect many people to fall for this trick it is possible that some might, at least early on while the scam is not that well-known (and is also unexpected). If you do, then change your password immediately and check your bank/credit card/PSN transactions.
You should also contact Sony straight away if you happen to receive a message like that above and report the relevant user, that way we can hopefully put a stop to these scams before they get out of hand or become more widespread.Tags: email, hoax, psn, scam

If you’re a Playstation gamer then you’ll probably know that your PSN password was reset last week by Sony. Apparently this was due to some “irregular activity” that they spotted.
More details have now emerged and it appears that the security scare was actually due to the trading card system in FIFA 14. Apparently because you can purchasing the trading cards from within the game itself, using real money, it has been targeted by hackers… and as a result some PSN users have seen charges that they didn’t authorise being added to their accounts.
We guess that the problem is because people are setting up a password on their consoles, and probably want something short and easy… hence making it easy pickings for a hacker. The lesson is you still need a strong password whatever you’re doing!
Here’s a couple of tweets sent out by people who appear to have been affected by the problem…
That's cool, someone hacked my PSN account and added $150 to my wallet. Thanks douche, I barely even use that thing.

If you are on the PSN, change your password ASAP. They got hacked again. CC #’s compromised again. Shouts to @BasedLaRock for the info.

We all know that sharing physical games on the PS4 is dead easy. Just check out the video embedded at the bottom of this post. However according to the just published official Playstation 4 system FAQ, sharing digital games is going to be a little more complicated (although still pretty easy).
What you’ll need to do is select one particular console as your primary PS4 and this is where all you digital content will be automatically downloaded (i.e. the system in your bedroom/lounge/house). It is also the console that will link up with your PS Vita if you have one. Any user whatsoever will be able to play the games on that console too, no matter what account they are logged in to.
As for other consoles, like if you go to a friends house and play his or her Playstation 4, you can log into your PSN account there and download games and play them, but they will only be playable via your account.
The FAQ also tells us that the friends limit for the PS4 is 2,000 in total.

Sony really is trying to one-up the Xbox One with the PS4 in just about every way imaginable (whether it is achieving this is another matter). It even extends to friends lists.
Microsoft has previously advised that you’ll be able to keep 1,000 friends in your list on the Xbox One, maximum. Well, Hollie Bennett from Access PlayStation has just revealed that the friends list on your PS4 could be up to double that – a maximum of 2,000 friends. Really I think that once you get up around 1,000 friends the argument becomes academic, but whatever…
Hollie also confirmed the following:

Hands up if you’re familiar with Playstation Plus, Sony’s answer to Xbox Live Gold? What it basically does is give you instant access to download 12 free games for the PS3 and six for the Playstation Vita (which you can store and play as long as you are a PS+ member). In addition new (free) downloadable games are added each month, which you can add to your collection, and you also get discounts of between 10%-75% off purchases made on the Playstation Store. In a change from the current-gen PS3 regime, you’ll also need a Playstation Plus subscription in order to play your PS4 online.
Sony has already said that PS+ memberships will be carrying across to the Playstation 4, but what can we expect in terms of free games? Sony definitely doesn’t want to be giving away half the launch lineup for free now does it!?
The answer is the following: you’ll get the games listed below instantly upon launch. As you can see a number of free-to-play titles are included, plus a few smaller games from indie developers. DriveClub: PS+ edition (a “full” retail game) will also be slightly restricted in that certain tracks and cars won’t be included (you’ll be able to purchase them separately though). Following the PS4’s launch, one retail game will also be downloadable for free, and storable in your game collection, each month.
Pretty impressive no?Tags: free, games, ps+, psn, sony, xbox live

With the release of the PS4 later this year (along with loads of juicy cheats for its games, which we will be mostly focused on) many current Xbox and Wii gamers will be reconsidering their position and which system they are going with for the next generation of gaming.
One positive about choosing Playstation 4 is the Playstation Plus network and the free games it gives you access to – something which Sony has been heavily promoting of late.
The Instant Game Collection feature basically gives you 12 free PS3 games and 6 free PS Vita games with new games (also free) then being added to your collection each month. What you’d receive on joining today is displayed above. Of course Sony can only offer free Playstation 3 and Vita games at the moment, but they have confirmed that the Instant Game Collection will be carried over to the PS4. In fact, DriveClub PS Plus edition will be available as a digital download when the PS4 launches. Thereafter you’ll get one free PS4 game each month.
And if you really want to know how rewarding Playstation Plus membership could potentially be, check out the image above which shows all 64 games you could have had you had an Instant Game Collection for the past year. Note: you need to be a member at the time a game is added to the collection to be able to add it to your account. So if you signed up today you would not get instant access to all 64 games (you’d get the 12 games referred to above).
We think the graphic is pretty impressive, and the service certainly compares favorably to current offerings on Xbox Live. That said, Microsoft have taken notice and are starting to promote free digital game downloads of the same kind to Xbox Live Gold members. It will be interesting to see how the two services compare if and when Microsoft attempts to compete more directly with the Playstation offering.
