Don’t Panic if You See This Killzone: Shadow Fall Glitch

April 27, 2014 by Samantha Lienhard - Leave a comment

If you’ve been playing Killzone: Shadow Fall, you probably downloaded the recent patch, Patch 1.14, which contains bug fixes as well as preparing the game for its upcoming DLC. There is, however, a new glitch that has come with the update.

When you bring up your career page, don’t be alarmed if it tells you all of your challenge progress appears to have been erased. It hasn’t. The glitch affects the way the information is displayed on the playercard menu, but your actual progress remains intact.

The above image shows an example of the glitch. Again, this only affects the playercard, not your actual challenge progress. Guerilla Games is working on fixing it.

PS4 Hits 6 Million Sales, Killzone: Shadow Fall Reaches 2.1

March 4, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

The PS4 continues to blast through its sales predictions (the most recent of which was 5 million sales by the end of March), and after its popular reception in Japan, we were wondering how much that would boost its overall sales. Well, Sony announced today that 6 million units have been sold worldwide.

Both Sony Computer Entertainment President and CEO Andrew House and Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia President Hiroshi Kawano referenced the Japanese market having a major contributing factor to the PS4’s latest success. Kawano also mentioned that they will “liven up” the Japanese market.

Japan had an exclusive limited edition PS4 that included a free digital download of Knack. After selling 370,000 units, it has been discontinued.

Over half of PS4 users subscribe to PS+, and 3.6 million smartphones currently run the PlayStation App. Sony released some other data as well. The PS4’s “share” function has been used with Facebook and Twitter over 100 million times, and 3.6 million gaming sessions have been streamed to Twitch and Ustream, with over 56 million views. In fact, PS4 broadcasts now account for 20% of the streams on Twitch.

Additionally, the PS4-exclusive shooter Killzone: Shadow Fall has seen 2.1 million sales, and 13.7 PS4 games have been sold in total.

Once again, these are huge sales numbers for the PS4. Its momentum has to slow eventually, but we’ve seen no sign of that happening. What might the future hold?

Free Week of Multiplayer for Killzone: Shadow Fall Starting March 3

March 2, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

Shadow Fall is the sixth Killzone Game, and one of the PS4’s most well-received exclusive launch titles. If you haven’t played it, however, or if you have it but aren’t a PS+ subscriber, you’ll be able to try out the multiplayer component this coming week.

Starting tomorrow, March 3, all PS4 users will be able to play Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer modes for a week, for free. Consider it a celebration of the first free map pack being released for the game, as well as a promotional opportunity. You can join the leaderboards for Capture and Team Deathmatch, and even clans made up entirely of members participating in the trial will have a chance to win the Clan Community Challenge.

This is great, both for PS4 users who haven’t picked up a copy of the game, and for Shadow Fall players who have only gotten to experience the single player mode. Are you planning to participate? Let us know your thoughts.

Two free maps for Killzone: Shadowfall coming

January 15, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

Sony has just announced that two new maps will soon be dropping in for Killzone: Shadowfall. The two maps, titled “Cruiser” and “The Hangar” will be absolutely free of charge and have “been inspired by key locations from the single player campaign”. As an added bonus, they’ll also be 100% compatible with Killzone’s Custom Warzone feature.

Sony says that the key to dominating the Cruiser map is to indentify and then control the choke points on the map, while you need to be wary of the “alternative routes” in The Hangar map in order to do well there.

Finally, it was also announced that work has begun on the first DLC expansion pack for the game, with more information on exactly what it entails to be revealed soon!

High sales of Killzone: Shadow Fall

January 7, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

Killzone: Shadow Fall released on November 15 as a launch title for Sony’s PlayStation 4. It was a highly anticipated title and has seen excellent sales, with 1 million copies sold across the world. This makes it the first title exclusive to a next-gen console to hit the 1 million mark (compared to titles released on previous generation consoles as well). 27% of those 1 million sales came from copies bundled with the PS4.

Killzone is a FPS franchise that began in 2004. After the first three games in the series, gathered together as the Killzone Trilogy, Shadow Fall is the fourth game. They are futuristic titles that deal with humanity’s struggles against the alien Helghast Empire. Shadow Fall is set many years after the trilogy and involves more stealth than previous entries.

The reviews for Shadow Fall have been moderately high, with special praise given to its multiplayer components. Its graphics and overall design are presented as examples of what it truly means to be a next-gen game, and it also makes use of the touchpad on the PS4’s controller. Some criticism has fallen on its single player campaign.

With any luck, the success of Shadow Fall will carry over to future Killzone titles.

Potential PS4 cheats & codes – what could the next generation bring?

November 13, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

The official launch of the PlayStation 4, Sony’s next-gen gaming console, is now upon us with many reporting that their pre-ordered console has already shipped. When the PS4 is officially released on November 15 a large library of launch titles and future games will accompany it. In the little time remaining, will try to predict the kinds of PlayStation 4 cheats the future will bring.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is already available as a current-gen title, and the PS4 version will be very similar to the one already out (upgraded 1080p visuals aside). This first-person shooter does not have many cheats discovered so far, but it does have new gameplay modes that players can unlock through their actions, as well as hidden files to collect for a Trophy. Trophy strategies and similar cheats will be the most likely things we see for this PS4 title. Another current-gen title making the jump to the eighth generation of consoles is DC Universe Online. This comics-based MMORPG has Trophy guides and hints to help players deal more damage, though its online nature means more cheats could appear as time goes on. FIFA 14 is a third game we can speculate about with a good degree of accuracy. Although it has already appeared on numerous systems, this sports game will launch on the PS4 with a new game engine. Based on the current version, FIFA 14 cheats will likely pertain to Trophies and Trophy strategies.

Minecraft is in the interesting position of being a current-gen game announced for next-gen systems that is not going to be a launch title. Although the PS4 version was supposed to release alongside the console, it has been delayed. Nevertheless, this sandbox game is so popular that it’s easy to predict that its cheats will look a lot like those for the versions already out—unlockables, Trophy guides, and strategies to take advantages of glitches for cool effects like invisibility and item duplication. As a fairly similar experience across the platforms it has appeared on, it should hold few surprises.

However, these next two games won’t be fully understood until the PS4 releases, as they are both exclusive launch titles. Killzone: Shadow Fall has caused much excitement amongst series fans and newcomers alike. As a first-person shooter based on a special forces group known as the Shadow Marshals, any cheat codes for the game will probably unlock new weapons, give the player boosted health or even invincibility, or unlock scenes and areas from the game. Other likely possibilities include bonus costumes and humorous character effects. While Shadow Fall looks at the dark side of things, another one of the PS4’s big launch titles is a family-friendly action game called Knack. As a new IP, there is little to compare Knack to, but its gameplay suggests we could see cheat codes that would unlock Knack’s various abilities or grant him invincibility. There will likely be strategies on how to easily get through each level.

Whether they are interested in Knack, Killzone, or one of the many other PlayStation 4 titles, players who follow speculation about Sony’s next-gen console should get ready for its imminent release and decide if they want to pick one up or pass.

High definition uncompressed Killzone Shadow Fall footage

November 4, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

While Sony seems fairly happy with the response it has received for Killzone Shadow Fall, the first person shooter built from the ground up for the Playstation 4, they’re also a little concerned that we haven’t been able to view footage of the game in all its full, unadulterated glory (ie not streamed).

So what they’ve done is release a file that you can download and play in either Windows Media Player (for Windows) or Quicktime Player (for Mac). The file clocks in at 541MB and offers the best possible framerate and fidelity for viewing. One word of warning from Sony too: don’t use a non-accelerated media player like VLC to watch the clip as it will likely cause choppy playback. Stick to the aforementioned programs though and you should be fine.

Download the video here and be sure to let us know what you think! The footage was taken from the multiplayer map “The Park” and was captured at 1080p with an uncapped framerate (although 60fps is targeted).

Killzone: Shadow Fall clocks in around 50GB

September 30, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

While it’s already been confirmed that you’ll be able to upgrade the SSD hard-drive in your brand new Playstation 4 yourself, the fact that PS4-exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall is going to take up 10% of the stock HDD on it’s own probably isn’t that comforting for some gamers.

Speaking to EuroGamer, SCEUK managing director Fergal Gara said that Killzone will take up around 50GB…

The Play as you Download functionality, for example, means you don’t need the whole file before you go. This is a little bit counterbalanced by the fact the files themselves are getting bloody big. Killzone: Shadow Fall is an uber file–I think it’s cracking on for 50GB. It looks it, too, when you see it.

We’re sure that the game will look amazing and that the 50GB is not wasted, however for those with either slow internet connections and/or tight data caps, the 50GB news is probably not that best they’ve received. Then again there’s also everyone who might need to upgrade their hard-drive after (potentially) installing just ten games.

First world problems we suppose… prepare yourselves (and your internet connections) in any event!

PS4 Killzone Bundle spotted on Amazon

August 29, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

It looks like some pretty nice PS4 bundles will be coming out in the future with this Killzone bundle recently being spotted over at Amazon France.

As you can see it includes the PS4 console, Killzone: Shadow Fall, the PS4 camera as well as an extra DualShock 4 controller (bringing the total to two altogether). Pricing for the Killzone bundle is €499, or about US$660.

There’s no official word yet on when these bundles might be available in other regions (like the US or UK), but SCE UK chief Fergal Gara did have the following to say to during the recent Gamecom conference:

We’re tremendously happy with our overall value proposition, whether that be the entry price point of the machine [or] the detailed bundles and combinations that we will put on shelf at retail which we haven’t fleshed out in detail as yet.

With the on-again/off-again availability for the PS4 console, there’s no doubt that even without the bundles it will be very hard to get a PS4 on launch day if you haven’t already pre-ordered. So it might be a while yet until we see any widespread availability for these bundles.
