Dead Rising 3’s DLC is Single-Player Only

Today marks the launch of the first of four planned story DLCs for the popular zombie game Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One. The interesting thing is that while co-op is a big part of the Dead Rising games, these DLC episodes will not support it.

The word from Capcom is that these DLC additions, which each focus on a different protagonist instead of the game’s main character, are meant to be a tight, story-based experience. Collectively titled “The Untold Stories of Los Perdidos,” they will show a side of Dead Rising 3 that players haven’t experienced before, although they connect back to the main campaign. This first DLC is called “Operation Broken Eagle,” and it tells the story of the commander of a military unit in Los Perdidos before the events of the main game’s story. With military force at their command, players will fight zombies much differently than they have before.

“Operation Broken Eagle” brings with it new weapons and a new vehicle in addition to the story and mission content. All of the new weapons and vehicles introduced in the four DLC episodes will carry over to co-op, as well.

Many Xbox One gamers have expressed their disappointment in the lack of co-op, particularly those who always play Dead Rising 3 with friends. Several have criticized Capcom’s decision, saying that the story is not the point of Dead Rising 3. The lack of co-op, combined with yesterday’s large patch in preparation for the DLC, has already given fans a sour opinion of “The Untold Stories of Los Perdidos.”

We’ll see what everyone’s opinion truly is, however, once they’ve had a chance to play it proper.

New Patch for Dead Rising 3

January 20, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

As players of Dead Rising 3 prepare for the release of the first story-related DLC tomorrow, they should download the latest update available. This patch not only readies the game for future DLC episodes, but also provides a number of fixes.

Performance and stability has been upgraded in both single-player and co-op modes, glitches have been fixed, and certain aspects of gameplay have been tweaked. For example, it is now easier to look through piles of items, and the way PP bonuses are unlocked is improved. Most notably, the game now warns a player when they are running low on ammo—the right trigger vibrates.

Players are encouraged to download the patch before they download the DLC episode. At 13GB, the patch contains a lot more than just the data related to those fixes and improvements. Many fans are disgruntled over this, as this patch will take up a large chunk of space while not offering much in the immediate future, and is mandatory even for players who don’t intend to buy the DLC. It’s an interesting idea, but so far it hasn’t been well-received.

First Xbox One game reviews published

November 18, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

The first reviews for two Xbox One games are in and the results are, we’ll be honest, mixed.

Dead Rising 3 and Killer Instinct have now had reviews published by several website publications with Read Rising 3 receiving an average Metacritic review score of 78 and Killer Instinct coming in with an average score of 74.

We’ve done a bit more research on the two games (unfortunately doesn’t have review copies or a Xbox One to play them on, yet!) and noticed that despite the average review score, Dead Rising 3 is still receiving/getting a lot of good feedback in discussion forums. People seem genuinely excited to get their hands on it.

We should also note that the average scores posted above are based on a very limited number of actual reviews. Once more publications are able to get their reviews up then we expect the numbers to change a fair bit. At the moment a couple of outstanding or particularly poor reviews could send the scores in either direction.

Giant Xbox One reveals zombies and real consoles

November 1, 2013 by Staff - Leave a comment

The purpose of the building-sized Xbox One located in a parking lot in Vancouver Canada has been revealed as a marketing stunt for both the console itself and also Dead Rising 3.

As you can see from the Vine clip embedded below, several zombies made an appearance on the scene and members from the NeoGAF forums also reported that a stall on the site was offering zombie make-up for free.

Inside the giant Xbox One were actually real Xbox One demo kiosks so you could sample both the console and Dead Rising 3, the popular zombie game that will arrive on the same day as the Xbox One is officially launched – 22 November (this month!!).
