Double Fine seems to have a knack for creating charming games with devoted fanbases that nevertheless don’t reach the commercial standing of other titles. Costume Quest is one such game, a quirky Halloween-themed RPG about fighting monsters and getting candy. Back in March, a sequel was announced, but we weren’t sure what systems it would be available for. Now we can officially say Costume Quest 2 will come out this Halloween for just about everything (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and Linux).
So no matter what your gaming system of choice is, you’ll probably be able to play this game. Costume Quest 2 will have a slightly different combat system from the first game. According to GameInformer, the turn-based system is now based on timed attacks which you can use to form powerful combos. If you loved Costume Quest’s combat, the core elements haven’t changed, so with any luck, this will only be an improvement.
It will be a bigger game than the original, which we assume means it will also be longer. And if you really love the series, you can preorder the tie-in graphic novel Costume Quest: Invasion of the Candy Snatchers.
If you haven’t played the first game, these explanations and titles should give you an idea of the atmosphere and tone of the game. And if they don’t, the wacky screenshots revealed today certainly should.
So, what do you think? Will you spend this Halloween trick-or-treating in Costume Quest 2?Tags: costume quest, costume quest 2, ps4, screenshots, wii u, xbox one
