This weekend, the PlayStation 4 will launch in Japan for the first time, but Japanese gamers who wait just a little longer will be able to pick up a limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes PS4 on March 20.
The PS4 x Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Fox Edition, as it is officially called, is a normal PS4 console, but it is marked with a laser etched, golden FOX emblem alongside the game’s logo. The console is bundled with a DualShock 4 controller and a copy of Ground Zeroes. The bundle is priced at 46,980 yen, which comes out to approximately $462. (A regular PS4 costs 41,979 yen, or the equivalent of about $413.)

Hideo Kojima shared pictures of the console, as well as three sample versions of the logo, on Twitter, and apologized for the short notice.
Take a look, and tell us what you think. As limited edition consoles go, this one isn’t the most impressive we’ve seen, but MGS fans might love this. There’s no word yet on this bundle coming to the west, but if there was, would you want it?Tags: bundle, console, ground zeroes, ps4

The NPD sales figures have been released for January, and the PS4 sold more units than the Xbox One—almost twice as many, in fact. According to Geoff Keighley, who Tweeted the information, PS4 sales of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition were also double those of the Xbox One version.
Microsoft, meanwhile, focused its report on overall game sales figures. Across all of the Xbox consoles, Microsoft sold more games in the US in January than any of its competitors. Additionally, Xbox One players have used over 685 million speech commands with the console. We aren’t entirely sure why they’re reporting that data, but that certainly is a lot.
Nintendo also fared better in January than it has been. 3DS software sales rose by 6%, while Wii U software sales rose by 26%.
This is a good report for everyone, and the PS4 is certainly blazing its way ahead of the pack. We can’t wait to see if this trend continues, or if new Xbox One releases like Titanfall will shrink the gap again.Tags: console, january, ps4, sales, xbox one

We all know that the Wii U is doing pretty poorly in retail stores and is being out-sold, easily, both each of the Xbox One and the PS4. So whether or not Nintendo was/is prepared to release a successor to the console might have been in doubt.
According to a post on the NeoGAF forums however, you Nintendo fans need not worry, as the Japanese gaming icon is already hard at work on a new Wii? next-next-generation console and has been since 2013…. The only thing is that it might be handheld only!
Forum user “wsippel” had the following to say:
Anyway, Nintendo apparently started working on a new platform in early 2013 and has already selected a vendor for the SoC after talking to several potential candidates. The SoC might be based on an existing design, but will be changed to fit Nintendo’s requirements. I assume it’s for their next handheld, though.
As you can see wsippel thinks that this information points to a next-generation handheld console, not the living room stationed machines that we have at the moment. Nothing official will probably come out on this matter for quite some time, so until then stayed tuned to Cheats.co and the NeoGAF forums for further (rumored) updates.Tags: console, nintendo, rumor, wii

Just a quick note that iCarbons are now available for the Playstation 4 and they look pretty impressive. You can choose from either solid colors or a “two tone” effect and we think that the later looks best.
The full range is here with solid colors costing $36.95 and the two-tone skin sets setting you back $39.95. We’re all over anything with white… combine it with a little blue to keep some sort of Playstation imagery/tradition and you have a winner!Tags: console, cover, icarbon, ps4, skin

Sony has just released some brand new high definition images of the user interface for the Playstation 4 console itself as well as its complementary mobile (smartphone and tablet) apps.
As you can see there are various pages/functions shown including:
We think it’s looking pretty slick and should be a massive improvement over the current PS3 user interface. In fact let’s be honest – what wouldn’t!?Tags: console, mobile, ps4, ui, user interface

Here’s one for those of you who still haven’t pre-ordered or otherwise secured a Day One Playstation 4 console and want one for the launch on November 15 (in the US).
Amazon has just put up a brand new PS4 bundle that includes both the original PS4 console package (including one DualShock 4 controller) as well as an additional controller.
The price is the same as you’d pay if you purchased the extra controller separately (ie $399 + $60 = $459) but the thing is that this bundle will ship to you on launch day. This is opposed to all other PS4 packages on Amazon that are either unavailable, or only let you sign up to be notified via email when they become available.
So, if you want a PS4 on launch day and were going to get an extra controller anyway, this is one to check out!Tags: amazon, bundle, console, day one, launch, package

GameStop is currently holding its annual Expo in Las Vegas where it was just revealed that all General Managers will receive a Playstation 4 console each along with seven games.
Joystiq received confirmation directly from GameStop and also learned that the seven games included free will be Killzone: Shadowfall, NBA 2K14, Madden, FIFA 14, Need for Speed: Rivals, Battlefield 4 and Beyond: Two Souls. Each of the games is obviously a PS4 game except Beyond: Two Souls, which is a PS3 title.
This is a great piece of marketing by Sony and will hopefully help sell more Playstation 4s (provided the GMs have a good experience with the console). It also matches an identical move made by Microsoft – GameStop GMs are getting free Xbox One consoles as well!Tags: console, free, gamestop, GM, manager, ps4

Take this with a grain of salt, but a verified poster over NeoGAF has said that an un-named new console from Sony will be released on October 21 this year. Could it be the Playstation 4?
NeoGAF is well known for attracting leaked information via posters that are usually either verified as legitimate or not, and in this case the poster has in fact been verified as working for a large games retailer.
Basically he had the following to say:
Rumor: Our internal product release schedule from head office dropped yesterday and on Oct 21st an unnamed Sony console will be launched. Fyi all console revisions like the ps360 slims and Wii Mini were listed as ps360 & wii mini. Previously the wiiu, 3ds and vita were also only listed as Nintendo/Sony Console in the product name column.
While October 21 would be nice (and a major surprise) I wouldn’t put any money on this being correct. But it’s still nice to dream…
PS4 Cheats will of course keep you updated on any PS4 release date news. The sooner the PS4 is released, the sooner we can deliver all the cheats, codes and everything else you need!Tags: cheats, codes, console, release, rumor

Wanna know exactly what you’ll get when unboxing (your) brand new Xbox One in November? Check out this video!
Major Nelson recently posted an Xbox One unboxing video that shows the full contents of the retail box. Notably, now included is the Xbox One specific chat headset, which Microsoft only just said it was “considering” including. They definitely made the right move including the headset in every box (both standard and “Day One” Xbox One editions will have it).
The Day One edition does get a special controller however (it has a shiny Day One emblem) and will also unlock a special Achievement that will not be available after the launch (i.e. you either get on release date or you don’t!) – details here.
Also included is the all new Kinect 2.0 for Xbox One, HDMI cable and other standard goodies.Tags: box, console, package, video, xbox one

Microsoft corporate VP Marc Whitten broke the news during a podcast with Major Nelson (take a listen here) saying:
This is the time where we’ve gone from the theory of how the hardware works–what do we think the yield is going to look like, what is the thermal envelope, how do things come together–to really having them in our hands. That’s the time where you start tweaking the knobs. Either your theory was right dead on, or you were a little too conservative, or you were a little too aggressive. It’s actually been really good news for us, and an example of that is we’ve tweaked up the clock speed on our GPU from 800MHz to 853MHz.
In terms of real world performance, the 53MHz might equate to a couple of extra frames per second. Nothing mindblowing, but certainly welcome nonetheless.
There was no official word on a rumored increase of RAM on the Xbox One from 8GB to 12GB though. In fact, we think that this “rumor” is complete rubbish. The increase is unlikely to make that much difference in terms of actual gaming, and assuming Microsoft want to actually have consoles manufactured and available to the masses come November, it would be impossible to pull off.Tags: clock speed, console, gpu, memory, ram, specs
