New Bundles Available for PS4 and Xbox One

April 25, 2014 by Samantha Lienhard - Leave a comment

If you haven’t picked up either a PS4 or Xbox One yet, or if you know someone who hasn’t but wants to, you might be interested to know that a couple new bundles appeared today. Now, these aren’t new in the sense of including new, previously-unbundled games, but each has something interesting to offer.

The seller is on Ebay with a PS4 bundle. It contains the PS4 console along with Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack, two of its exclusive launch titles. The whole bundle costs $449.99 and has free shipping, so if you’re interested in getting a PS4 and both games, this is a lower price than if you buy them separately.

The Xbox One bundle is a little trickier to explain, because on the surface it seems silly to say you can buy the Day One bundle five months after the console’s launch. Nevertheless, Amazon has put the Xbox One Day One Edition back up for sale for its original price of $499.99, so if you really wanted those Day One perks, you can get them now. The Day One edition includes the Xbox One console, a special commemorative controller, and a code to receive an exclusive Day One achievement you can’t otherwise get.

If you’re looking for a spectacular deal and price cut, neither of these new sales is quite right. However, if you’re interested in two specific exclusives (for the PS4) or special launch-day benefits (for the Xbox One), take a look before these sell out.

Titanfall and Forza Xbox One Bundle Dropped to $460 in US

April 12, 2014 by Samantha Lienhard - Leave a comment

Xbox One Titanfall Forza

If you’re a US gamer who caught our story yesterday about the deals on the Xbox One bundle in the UK, and you wished you could find such a deal, you’re in luck.

Fry’s is selling the Xbox One bundled with Titanfall and Forza 5 for just $459.99, a full $100 off its regular price. If you’re interested in those games and haven’t picked up an Xbox One yet, it probably won’t get any better than this (although we can’t make any promises).

At this point, we’re surprised Microsoft hasn’t announced an official price cut. As it is, we’ll keep our eyes open for more discounts at other retailers.

FFXIV PS4 Bundle and Open Beta

April 1, 2014 by Samantha Lienhard - Leave a comment

It’s no joke, a special Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 bundle is being released, at least in Japan. It’s available from the Japanese Sony store, and it’s limited edition. Only 1400 numbered units will be made. It will be released on April 14, but sadly, there is no news of this bundle being released in other regions. We’ll let you know if we hear anything.

Additionally, if you’ve been hoping to try out FFXIV on your PS4 before it launches, the final open beta begins this Friday, April 4, at 1 AM PDT, and it will last until April 7 at 1 AM PDT. All your data from this beta will be saved for you to take over to the full game.

If you participated in the first beta phase, you’ll need to uninstall the old client and download the new one from PSN.

Are you planning to join the beta, and are you interested in buying the full game?

Xbox One Titanfall Bundle Price Cut

March 21, 2014 by Samantha Lienhard - Leave a comment

Xbox One Titanfall

Yes, you read that right–the Titanfall bundle, which was already an effective price cut for the Xbox One by keeping the price of the console the same while adding in the game, has received a price cut at certain retailers.

So far, Wal-Mart and Best Buy have both dropped the price by $50. You can now pick up an Xbox One bundled with a digital copy of Titanfall for only $450. As far as we know, this is an online-only deal.

Great news for people who have yet to pick up an Xbox One, less so for those who just bought one at the regular price. It also raises questions about whether retailers are having trouble selling the console, despite the boosted sales due to Titanfall’s release. Are you planning to pick up an Xbox One?

Infamous: Second Son PS4 Bundle Becomes GameStop Bestseller

February 26, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

For players in the US, GameStop has just announced a PS4 Infamous: Second Son bundle. It comes with the PS4 console, Infamous: Second Son, an additional DualShock 4 controller, and a 1-year membership of PlayStation Plus. You can preorder it now for $569.96, so it won’t actually save you any money, but it’s still a new way for fans to get ahold of the hard-to-find PS4 console, as well as a highly anticipated game.

And that seems to be enough.

The bundle has already hit the top of GameStop’s bestseller list, far outstripping other console bundles. The Titanfall Xbox One bundle is only 23rd on the list, although when it comes to the games themselves, standalone Titanfall is 8th and standalone Infamous: Second Son is 33rd.

These are very interesting numbers, especially since the Titanfall bundle effectively gives customers a discount. It looks to us like a lot of people are going for the Infamous: Second Son bundle so they can get a PS4. Are you planning to pick up a bundle? Let us know your thoughts.

Xbox One Discounted Further in the UK by GameStop

February 25, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

Yesterday, we told you about the Xbox One’s price cut in the UK, as well as the new Titanfall bundle, which includes the digital download of the game at no additional cost. Well, now the deal is even sweeter.

At GameStop, the Xbox One Titanfall bundle will only cost £369.97, another significant drop. This puts it much closer to the price of the PS4, and the inclusion of Titanfall and a 1-month Xbox Live Gold membership makes it seem like a very appealing offer.

What do you think—is this the move that will turn the tables on Sony and put Microsoft in the lead? It certainly makes things look better for the Xbox One, which has not sold nearly as well as the PS4 in the UK. Then again, at this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony countered with a new PS4 bundle to even the odds again. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know immediately if anything like that happens. For now, give us your predictions on how this will effect the sales gap.

Xbox One: Price Cut in UK, Global Bundle With Free Titanfall

February 24, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

If you’ve been interested in buying an Xbox One but are a little put off by the price tag, Microsoft’s new announcements might be just what you wanted to hear.

First of all, the Xbox One is receiving a direct price cut in the UK. It has been sold at £430 since its launch, but now its price will be reduced to £399.99.

Additionally, players around the world will be able to pick up an Xbox One Titanfall bundle—at no additional cost. For £399.99 in the UK and $499.99 in the US, you can buy an Xbox One bundled with a digital download code for Titanfall, a one-month membership to Xbox Live Gold, and of course, the Kinect, chat headset, and wireless controller. Sadly, that is the regular controller, not the special Titanfall-themed one.

You can preorder the bundle from Amazon and the Microsoft Store, and it will also be available at certain retail locations. This bundle will only be available in limited quantities, although Microsoft did not give a specific number.

If you’re interested, keep in mind that you are getting a digital copy of Titanfall, not a physical copy, but this is still effectively a price drop on the Xbox One. There have been a lot of concerns about the Xbox One’s higher price, especially with how far the PS4 has been outselling it, but according to Xbox UK Marketing Director Harvey Eagle, this isn’t a response to low sales.

When asked, he told media sources that top goal is to make sure players get the best value they can, and that, “Titanfall is coming, and it seems like the right moment in time to offer an improved price point with the inclusion of the hottest game.”

Additionally, he feels the upcoming releases of Titanfall, Watch Dogs, and Destiny will boost the sales of the Xbox One, because “the only place you’re going to be able to play all three of those games is on Xbox One.” Since those latter two titles are multiplatform games, we can only assume he believes Titanfall is a strong enough game to weigh the odds in the Xbox One’s favor.

He mentioned that Microsoft has many exciting announcements planned for E3, as well.

No matter how he phrases it, we suspect the price gap between the Xbox One and PS4 factored into the decision at least somewhat. He has a point, though—people are really excited about Titanfall, this bundle could move a lot of Xbox One consoles. Are you planning to pick one up? Check it out and let us know your thoughts.

Ground Zeroes PS4 Bundle for Japan

February 17, 2014 by Staff - Leave a comment

This weekend, the PlayStation 4 will launch in Japan for the first time, but Japanese gamers who wait just a little longer will be able to pick up a limited edition Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes PS4 on March 20.

The PS4 x Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Fox Edition, as it is officially called, is a normal PS4 console, but it is marked with a laser etched, golden FOX emblem alongside the game’s logo. The console is bundled with a DualShock 4 controller and a copy of Ground Zeroes. The bundle is priced at 46,980 yen, which comes out to approximately $462. (A regular PS4 costs 41,979 yen, or the equivalent of about $413.)

Hideo Kojima shared pictures of the console, as well as three sample versions of the logo, on Twitter, and apologized for the short notice.

Take a look, and tell us what you think. As limited edition consoles go, this one isn’t the most impressive we’ve seen, but MGS fans might love this. There’s no word yet on this bundle coming to the west, but if there was, would you want it?

Amazon has new Day One PS4 launch bundle

August 31, 2013 by Staff - 2 Comments

Here’s one for those of you who still haven’t pre-ordered or otherwise secured a Day One Playstation 4 console and want one for the launch on November 15 (in the US).

Amazon has just put up a brand new PS4 bundle that includes both the original PS4 console package (including one DualShock 4 controller) as well as an additional controller.

The price is the same as you’d pay if you purchased the extra controller separately (ie $399 + $60 = $459) but the thing is that this bundle will ship to you on launch day. This is opposed to all other PS4 packages on Amazon that are either unavailable, or only let you sign up to be notified via email when they become available.

So, if you want a PS4 on launch day and were going to get an extra controller anyway, this is one to check out!
