Predicting the Xbox One release date

Sony has drawn a line in the sand with it’s announcement that the Playstation 4 will be released in the United States on November 15. The next question is when Microsoft might launch the Xbox One. They’ve already confirmed it will be in November, but haven’t given a specific date.

Of course coming out before the PS4 would be nice, but it’s not going to happen. Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs is coming out on November 19 and it is a Xbox One launch title. So unless the Xbox One version gets a special release a few weeks prior (which doesn’t make sense), the Xbox One is not coming out earlier than November 19. In fact this alone points pretty strongly to a November 19 release for the Xbox One.

Moving to other potential dates post November 15, we have November 19 and November 26 as being the two Tuesdays, and of course Black Friday on November 29 as a back-stop. There is no way that Microsoft will release any later than that, and ideally they’d have it in stores at least a few days prior. There may not be that many Xbox One deals available on Black Friday, but by having both the PS4 and Xbox One consoles available to purchase while all that shopping is taking place is a nice marketing angle for retailers.

That said I am going with November 19. It is just 4 days after the PS4 launch which will give impatient gamers enough time to pause and think which console they really want, and also allow for stock levels to be replenished in time for the Holiday season, not to mention the hype build for any Black Friday bundles that may be announced. Plus the Watch Dogs link.

What date do you think the Xbox One will be released?
