We haven’t heard much about Mirror’s Edge 2 since it was announced last E3, but today the website RocketChainsaw claimed to have seen footage from the game. RocketChainsaw is owned by NeoGAF admin EvilChildren.

According to this information, Mirrors Edge 2 is a reboot of the series, and it will release in 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. The game will look just like it did in the E3 trailer, and it has an open-world setting with an online aspect similar to that of games like Journey. There will also be more traditional multiplayer modes, both co-op and competitive.

Faith will face new enemies, including ones with skills that match her own. Combat will not involve shooting, but rather a fluid hand-to-hand combat system, which includes combos and rare take-down moves. Nevertheless, the developers consider it to be “a racing game at heart.”

Remember, these are just rumors until we hear otherwise, although this information does provide some interesting possibilities to think about. It’s a bit odd to hear it styled a “reboot,” as there is only one other game in the series. Why not give it a new title and let it be a spiritual successor?

As we wait for more information, let us know what you think. If this is what Mirror’s Edge 2 will be like, is it something you want to play?
