The Playstation 4 is officially the fastest selling console of all-time with Sony confirming that it sold over one million consoles in the first 24 hours of the device’s release in North America.
Having set itself the goal of selling a total of five million PS4 units before the end of March 2014, Sony is certainly off to a good start. We’re sure there was a lot of pressure just to have one million consoles manufactured and ready in time and while there may be a few resulting issues from the urgency, hitting the one million mark in 24 hours is something the PS4 team can be proud of. Plus there is still the launches in both Europe (on November 29) and Japan (on February 22 next year) to look forward to.
With the Xbox One official launching this Friday, we look forward to comparing the sales figures for the two leading next generation consoles against one another. We say “leading” because technically the Wii U is also next-gen (and in fact we do provide cheats for it). The sad thing is that it took Nintendo an entire week just to reach 400,000 Wii U consoles sold in the US!
