The NPD sales figures have been released for January, and the PS4 sold more units than the Xbox One—almost twice as many, in fact. According to Geoff Keighley, who Tweeted the information, PS4 sales of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition were also double those of the Xbox One version.

Microsoft, meanwhile, focused its report on overall game sales figures. Across all of the Xbox consoles, Microsoft sold more games in the US in January than any of its competitors. Additionally, Xbox One players have used over 685 million speech commands with the console. We aren’t entirely sure why they’re reporting that data, but that certainly is a lot.

Nintendo also fared better in January than it has been. 3DS software sales rose by 6%, while Wii U software sales rose by 26%.

The highest-selling game in January was Call of Duty: Ghosts, followed by NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

This is a good report for everyone, and the PS4 is certainly blazing its way ahead of the pack. We can’t wait to see if this trend continues, or if new Xbox One releases like Titanfall will shrink the gap again.
